"And you reverse it on me. You tell me, Ultramarine. Do you actually know for certainty that you're right? or did you just hear something fantastical and jump at the first second to see if it's true? Answer my question, Ultramarine! Will it work!? I don't want your uncertainty, I want your absolute answer! Will it work, or Will it not work!?"
"Absolute certainty is something that is hard to come by in these times. However, I have come to realize that man's cowardice has turned them to religion in the face of uncertainty. So, for the sake of mankind and the hope that they can still be redeemed form their lives of fearful worship, I do be in my cause and believe it shall work. I would not throw away my life for anything I do not believe in. So then answer me, are truly and absolutely sure that this has no chance of working? Are you content to merely standby and allow man to do that which the Emperor has condemned, worship him? As I said before, if you truly have conviction behind your words, this Webway leads to Terra and you can confront those of the church and the High Lords who have allowed it."
@matt23 Shen... How could it have been Shen. How had all he had ever fought beside become damned? Was he truly so blind to the weakness in his kin? Or was there truth to there cause... "You know there is no price I wouldn't pay to see the Emperor restored to his rightful place, for him to once more rule mankind, to lead them to their true destiny. But you give us nothing to trust on Aurelius! You did not bother to consult us, you simply fled and without hesitation took Golb... Took Shen on his word. But I will not risk the safety of the Emperor so easily Ultramarine. Tell me why you trusted him Claudius, tell me what guarantee there is that when we touch this eldritch object to the ruler of Mankind that it won't drain the last of his life force. And don't use the Ecclesiarchy as an excuse, this is beyond any of that."
"If this were truly an act of chaos, Shen would not had willingly given up his life and soul to the cause. His soul is now within this Orb, by his own request. What traitor would act in such a matter? The actions of traitors are selfish and self-centered, not rightous and willing to give up their life for another. This action in and of itself speaks volumes as to the loyalty of Shen. I do not deny that this entire thing seems unreal, but if there is a chance, I, as a loyal son, must try. I told Jacen to join with us and watch for any signs of treachery, but he said nothing and attacked me. I offer all of you the same thing. Come with us and watch over what I go to do, this way we can, at the first sign of treachery, have a better chance of stopping it."
There was a long silence as the Viceroy thought on Claudius' words. He had known Shen well, had shed blood beside him. He was a selfless man, fought desperately to save every brother Astarts he could. He had never sensed corruption on him, and Zuriel was not often mistaken on such things. If he had truly believed in this then maybe... Maybe there was a chance. @TeamPrimus "Brothers, I knew Shen. Fought beside him on Terra itself. He was an ever loyal servant of the Emperor, and one of the greatest sons of Vulkan I knew save Regos and the venerable Ulcisor. And I sense no deception from the Ultramarine, nor the presence of the Dark Gods amongst his companions. If Shen believed in this, then I shall as well." @matt23 Approaching the Ultramarine, Zuriel laid his bloody gauntlet on his pauldron. "I shall trust you my brother. If I find it is misplaced, I will tear out your throat with my bare hands." Strangely there was a soft smile on Zuriels lips as he said this, as if for the first time in centuries he had true hope for his people. OOC: It's just to interesting a path not to follow
Bargov stood there, bewildered before just accepting it. "Fine Viceroy, you think we should go along with this. That's your choice." (@matt23 ) "But I've got my optics on you and your "Friends". If it turns out this is all a ruse. The Viceroy's crozius coming at you will be the last thing to worry about." OOC: was kinda thinking of just having bargov screw off if you made that choice, but yeah, im interested aswell to see where this goes. so just think of him being in a "Passive" (To put it lightly) aggressive state right now.
@Keidivh @seabass "Whether I succeed or fail, I know my fate is sealed. However, I shall keep both of your threats in mind as we continue. At any rate, can we continue to Terra, or are there others who wish to fight? Because we are wasting time within this vastly unknown place, so the sooner we are out the better."
Tul gave way to a heavy sigh. "So this is what it's come down to then..." he muttered. "Fine, if even Zuriel goes along with it, then prove me wrong. Let's go "restore" our Father. Mark my words, He will not return to us." Tul backed down. His own reaction surprising even him. Am I so far beyond caring anymore? Do I not care about faith? He thought to himself, trying to find an answer within himself.
Webway @matt23 | Jacen had scowled as Claudius tried to preach at them, his bolter never wavering in its aim, his scowl deepening as the Ultramarine's preaching swayed his team-mates, finally breaking his silence. "I will fight you. I will fight all of you if I must. This is wrong."
Claudius shook his head at Jacen, "Again, you do not try to speak reason, or even try to talk at all. You merely say 'I will fight you all' without any more than 'this is wrong'. Have I not listened to the others without raising a hand or attacking out of anger. Have I ordered those I am with to attack you? No. Regardless, in words baptized in illogical rage, you lash out. You will not even listen to offers to watch over this mission yourself. Instead you wish to throw away your life here, but to what end? And without proof of anything other than your anger."
