~~ Barnassus Campaign - Battle of Ladimur - Overall Battle ~~ From one moment of no sound at all, it went suddenly into full combat. The Eldar started to split up their group through the buildings and started to infiltrate them or scale them, leaving almost only the tanks which now dropped their troops off before getting too much damage, while retaliating it, but not managing to destroy any of the heavy tanks and only hurting a few of the Imperial defense as they were quite well dug in. Their hull so far prevailed against the hammering weapons even from above and below together, as especially the frontline was only at minimum effective range. The Wave Serpents may appear lightly armored, but the wraithbone was not to be underestimated. But it appeared the group was more than prepared for urban warfare than anticipated and knew the terrain quite well. The Astartes generals had to act swiftly, did they want to seek victory. However it was quite awkward that the major army that even did seek cover in the buildings and near the street actually did not advance further, taunting the enemy to come to their death. Zorg and his men continued their endless barrage of fire, mainly the heavy weapons as the enemy was out of range of regular las and auto weapons, and they apparently intended to stay at that range as the enemy convoy simply stopped there and started to deploy in the midst of the street, wanting the humans to approach them. Shortly after the Guardians took position and deployed weird objects on the ground, a Leman Russ Tank shot with it's mighty Howitzer into the alien tank formation, only to have the projectile explode against an invisible energy field of some sort, emitting from the objects placed on the ground. ~~ Barnassus Campaign - Battle of Ladimur - DW Thunderhawk ~~ @TechCaptain | @matt23 | @Keidivh The Thunderhawk was at the very outskirts of the atmosphere of Barnassus as they closed in, just a few more minutes.... All systems were locked and loaded. Readings started to come in on the battlefield and they could start approaching their attack vector from East, as long as no anti-air would be encountered. Giving them a moment to reconsider of how and when the Astartes would attack and capture their bounty, especially considering that the original plan was Zuriel and Claudius to leave the Thunderhawk, perhaps it would be smarter to have one of them jump out mid-flight with their jump pack, leaving only one gunner? OOC: You cannot just yet attack, you will be in attack range after the next GM post ~~ Barnassus Campaign - Battle of Ladimur - North ('Left') Side ~~ @lord-watchman | @EvicusDasan1 Fire Dragons and Dire Avengers climbed in on the ground floor, assisted by Banshees, and started to make their ascension through the building, it would be hard for only the two Astartes to keep them at bay, but taking too many of their men off their positions would result in lack of firepower of their ambush. At least a handful of kills were taken as the Missile Launcher exploded right on a ramp where enemies deployed, the Heavy Bolter only capable of scratching and denting the Wave Serpents. From the position high up, there was still no sign of a leader, neither could Silva feel any combat-psyker amongst them, besides the many strong presences of the Eldar, the collective of their psychic presence was creating some faint veil around him anyway. "JUST KEEP FIRING, THEY WILL FALTER, OR I SHALL KICK YOU DOWN INTO THEM, SO YOUR CORPSES MAY STRIKE THEM DOWN!" Their Penal-Sergeant roared. as he saw some stepping back under some shuriken fire. They would die either way, but at least they could earn some honor before they perish as well as have the honor to serve amongst Angels of Death. He was a mere, single Astartes, and there were probably at least two squads of the finest xeno warriors that travel this galaxy. If Regos could time it right, perhaps the enemy could be taken aback in a pincer attack together with the defending forces on the higher levels? Or he could try to muscle his way in, trying to take them all at the same time on his own. The troops at least had opened fire once they saw the other side opened fire at will as well, destroying some of the Shining Spears and downing two of the Wasps as they simply fired on the lighter targets, after seeing the tanks were shielded quite well. However, they only remained at minimum distance and only little could be done against them as long as their shields were active, and the only way to bring them down faster would be to engage in a frontal assault, or reinforcements of the rear would arrive soon, or the Thunderhawk with air assistance. But so far the fight was against the Imperium as the Eldar scattered into the nearby buildings. Tellon had to come up with an idea or some mean to get the edge again. Luckily their main army had no casualties just yet, as sporadic Eldar fire came their way. Obviously they only wanted them to cower in fear, while destroying the trap that sprung for them to reduce the current attack angles. The wait was becoming near unbearable, Zuriel yearned to get into the action. He looked over his weapons, looking forward to rending Eldar flesh with it. "We are close to engaging, it would be best if we provide air support at first to help our brothers gain the upper hand. "Brothers in this I am stuck behind the controls. Unless we land or crash, the fight is yours. " Alderson spoke wistfully. He enjoyed flight an fights on the 3 dimensional planes. He had the signum ready to assist his brothers with precision guidance.
@TechCaptain From the top of Tellons HUD, he could see a streak of a very small object entering the Atmosphere, he used his vox. "I hope that is you I see, Brother Alderson. If you could, have your gunners aim for the Eldar forces on the street. They have deployed some sort of shielding to protect themselves from our heavy weapons." @Uriel1339 Tellon turned back to Zorg, "Have our heavy weapons keep firing on the Eldar on the street. Even if we cannot eliminate them, we can still keep them pinned until the full trap is sprung." Tellon took the time to lookout towards the battlefield in its entirety. He finally noticed something wrong......There was no lack of missiles, but there was a lack in the precision of some of the missiles that lead to one conclusion...... Where is Athenallas? It wasn't like him to want to remain out of a battle like this. Perhaps their drop pod landed further away than anticipated? Tellon hoped that he would not be long for whatever reason was keeping him.
