The descend was relatively quick as Athenallas could simply jump and not worry too much about damage due to the Power Armor. There were also many ramps which allowed him to get to the bottom quick. It took him overall probably less than a minute, despite the hundred feet he just climbed downward. Once there he was greeted by a couple of ugly mutants. They came forth on his presence in caution, but apparently they were not like Baal mutants, these retained their mind. "An angel! An actual angel!" One exclaimed and threw himself at the feet of the Astartes, the entire group of ten coming forth now. Some had Mechadendrites hanging out of their back and were half metal. "Does the Omnissiah forgive our failures?" Well now it dawned upon the Astartes. These were not mutants... These were fallen Servitors. Those that either failed to be completely turned into Servitors, got corrupted or damaged that it was not worth fixing them up. They must have been discharged in the dump with the rest of waste, believed they would die. Instead they managed to survive out here. The radioactivity even went a bit up, judging by his suit's readings, but nothing that could possibly harm the Astartes. On their knees assembled in a circle they did look up on the Astartes to await his judgment.
Farith spoke to Tellon. "I shall accompany you brother, I fear I do not know enough of Athenallas' situation to locate him. Farith switched his vox net so only Tellon could hear him. "What have you learned brother?"
Tellon responded back in the private vox between fellow unforgiven, "Of what brother? You know as much as I do of Athenallas's situation."
Barnassus - Wasteland @Uriel1339 | Athenallas paused as the mass of servitor rejects clustered around him, babbling about angels and their Omnissiah. Aiming his bolt pistol at a point almost completely straight above him the Black Templar pulled the trigger, the violence of the movement likely enough to send the servitors back more than a few steps. Raising his voice Athenallas turned to take in all of the servitors. "Only in death does duty end. That is the watchword of the Imperium. Your world has been invaded and none of you are neither dead nor doing your duty! Take me back to the Forge and fight if any of you want your redemption! [OOC: Maybe I'll become a Chaplain. If I survive long enough!]
"But but.... We were exiled milord! We were thrown away! We.... We need sanction to allow to return! We were left to die.... But..... But we want a chance to redeem ourselves! Please, Angel of Death! Let us show you, the fabricator marshall and the Omnissiah that we still can serve!" Instead of actually retreating they got even closer to him. One of them kissing the right boot of the Black Templar.
Barnassus - Wasteland @Uriel1339 | Athenallas sneered at the pathetic creature kissing his boot, deliberately taking a step backwards, and scowled beneath his helmet. "Take me to the forge and I will get your sanction and a chance at redemption." The empires of Mars and Terra were very different, they always had been, and the views held on doctrine were just as different. These servitors, wanting 'redemption', were usable to the Imperium even if the Mechanicum saw the damaged creatures as worthless. Athenallas definately intended to make use of them.
"The matter I speak of is MUCH more important than Brother Athenallas I fear. And I wish to know if you have learned anything more about it." Farith tried to avoided saying it directly in case they were somehow being listened to. OOC: and because idk how to use spoiler tags on my phone xD
Alderson simply returned to the partially dug up ruins where Athenallas had disappeared from. He had used the material from here for some of the nearby fortifications. "This is where he vanished from."
As his Dark Angels brothers seemed to be distracted, Zuriel moved out immediately with Alderson (@TechCaptain ). He observed the immediate area. Zuriel removed his helmet for a moment, closing his eyes. He squinted, trying to concentrate his senses in detecting any psychic disturbance. There was. "Something happened here, there is a faint psychic disturbance. I'm sure of it." Zuriels eyes snapped open as he called out on his vox. "If his body isn't here... Could they have him?" Zuriel asked aloud for all his brothers to hear on the channel, trying to think of any other alternative to such a cruel fate.
