You could use them as a semi-hero unit bought on a squad level, say the Sargent uses the squad points for it and when they respawn each member can join the kill-team for a single life. This would limit the numbers a bit while keeping them as more then a simple cosmetic change.
I would implement Death Watch as a PvE specialization talent tree. They are mainly Xenos fighters, and the Tyranids are NPC controlled. Why not? a Deathwatch Skin unlock for the heavy PVErs who have gotten certain achievements and are veterans in Tyranid fighting? I dont see why not.
Yea it would be option but then again, PVP represents 90% of the game so they would miss alot since they are going to be worse than others in PVP. And if this would be accepted and so on, the other factions would need something like this also. It's a great idea but there is alot of problems too.
PvE requirement does not mean they will be weaker in PvP. Eldars are Xenos too, as are the Orks and the Deathwatch fight for the Ordo Xenos.
I would support this idea. Just give them a slight damage boost to tyranids so they can continue to do PvE if they so choose. Then like if the Space Marines start getting overrun by the tyranid AI then the Death Watch could help out some. Having said that, I don't think the resources should even be spent on considering this for something at launch
Deathwatch should be NPCs playing a story role if anything. They'd have reason to go to Arkhona, but it'd be rediculous seeing 100s of Deathwatch players.
Or only have it as a skin option for when you achieve a Veteran level in terms of progression ie: Sternguard/Vanguard since most people on the TT use Deathwatch Kill-teams as Count-as would be the easiest way..but I'd rather they just not be in. If anything just the option to have one shoulder/arm in Silver to represent having been in the DW would be enough - Not black suit.
I think having them as npcs in a few events likely in dungeons would be the only way to really do them justice.
