Once more. Deathwatch. I guess at this point really everyone knows what Deathwatch is. If not:

    http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Deathwatch

This is full casual RP, to return finally once again to the roots of the first Deathwatch that kinda brought life into the RP section. I am referring to this RP: http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/deathwatch-free-rp.4066/
Also I honored some of the players characters here:
    http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/thr...dark-short-story-compendium-deathwatch.42114/

Just so you can see that stuff truly can get quite epic here.

For character creation I am somewhat inspired / biased by the awesomeness of the FFG version. Therefor:

Create a character in this order (please PM me just the sheet, use your username as subject + 'deathwatch'):

    #1 - Select Your Chapter
Any chapter is okay that appear in lore even if they are as minimal as 'they exist' but no custom chapters. If you take a chapter with minimal information, be prepared to make some up, or I will.

    #2 - Select Your Class
Available are: Tactical, Librarian (Codicer rank), Assault, Chaplain, Apothecary, Techmarine, Devastator

    #3 - Standard Equipment
    Everyone:
Astartes power armour (you may choose between Mark 4-7)
    Astartes bolt pistol
    3 Astartes frag grenades
    3 Astartes krak grenades
    Astartes combat knife
    repair cement
one Chapter Trapping (you may make your own up; this is basically a good luck charm or other symbol of your chapter. Can be anything from a chalice, necklace, pendant, tattoo, ceremonial weapon [usually not used in combat], etc.)

    Deathwatch Apothecary
Astartes Bolter or Astartes Bolt Pistol with fire selector; may choose Chainsword instead of Bolt Pistol upgrade or Bolter.
    reductor and narthecium

    Deathwatch Assault Marine:
    Astartes chainsword
    Astartes jump pack

    Deathwatch Devastator Marine Standard Issue:
Astartes Heavy Bolter + backpack ammo supply.

    Deathwatch Librarian Standard Issue:
Astartes Bolter or Bolt Pistol with fire selector
ONE force weapon (may be any form/shape one handed or two handed; casting spells always only requires 1 handed; two handed use makes no difference except for melee combat)

    Deathwatch Tactical Marine Standard Issue:
    Astartes bolter with fire selector
one additional clip of Special Issue ammunition per mission

    Deathwatch Chaplain Standard Issue:
    Skull Helmet
    Crozius Arcanum (Power Melee Weapon)

    Deathwatch Techmarine Standard Issue:
Astartes bolter with fire selector; may take Omnissiah Power Axe instead
Astartes servo-arm (as a part of his power armour)
and one Common craftsmanship cybernetic (cannot be 2nd Servo Arm; pick from this list:
    Auger Array [works as Auspex]
Bionic Arm [Strength bonus on that arm]
    Bionic Heart [Increases Endurance]
Bionic Locomotion [Increases speed and movement related actions; like jumping]
Bionic Respiratory System [Bonus on resisting poisonous gases, etc.
Cybernetic Senses [Can better hear, see, smell, etc.]
Mind Impulse Unit (MIU) [Techmarine can directly connect to devices and their machine spirit, increasing success chance of hacking, better piloting/driving, etc.]

    #4 Personality
    First:
Appearance. How does your character look?
    Scars, size, weight, etc.
    (Reference: Standard Marine = 2.1 meters [6.88 feet / 6' 10"] ; 500-1000kg with power armor [~1100-2200 lbs with power armor])

    Second:
Past Event that got your Marine into the Deathwatch
(must be something really epic; not too epic)
I will aid in case you have no idea; although if you have the FFG core rulebook, that might inspire you. (Try to reflect this event on the history of your chapter. I.E. if you go Ultramarine, perhaps link it to one of the 3 Tyrannic Wars? If you go Flesh Tearer perhaps link it to the Third War of Armageddon. etc.)

    Third:
    Power Armour History

Every Power Armour is handled as relic in a chapter. Which history does yours have?
    Example:
To forget is to forgive. Forget nothing: Each bearer of this armour has inscribed it with an oath of vengeance against those who have offended the Emperor in some way. Some inscriptions revile a single name, while some condemn entire races of Xenos or planetary populations. Each successive bearer considers it a matter of honour to exact the Emperor’s Vengeance upon the offender and considers it his solemn duty to put right as many of the wrongs as possible. Once the offender has been punished, his name is left as an example to others.

    Fourth:
    Nature of your Character
Think of how your Astartes behaves naturally and where his motivations come from. For some their homeworld might be more important than others. Think of the Imperial Fists who see Terra as their homeworld for example. Or the Ultramarines for whom it means the home of their stasis-trapped Primarch. But also the lack of interest in a homeworld or the lack of having one (i.e. fleet-based chapters). But also the entire other parts of a character.
Personality (if he is kind, respectful or just very brutal, or intelligently cunning, etc.)
What the Deathwatch means to your character (a home as your chapter? Just an internship to learn how to kill Xenos?)
What do you desire? (Power? Artifacts? Experience?)

    Fifth:
    Name.
The name should fit to your chapter. I.e. Ultramarines have those greek-roman names, Imperial Fists have those german/crusader names, and so on.

    #5 Traits
No traits beyond what your class and your being as Space Marine already mean.
You will earn true special abilities later on. For those that are unaware a Space Marine quite has already a loooong list of special abilities (keep in mind some Chapters have mutated organs or such; i.e. Imperial Fists have no working Betcher's Gland):
Secondary Heart/Ossmodula/Biscopea/ Haemastamen: Increased Strength, Toughness & Endurance
Larraman’s Organ: Almost none to completely no suffering of blood loss (instead cauterizing)
Catalepsean Node: No penalties from staying up long without rest periods.
Preomnor: Can digest almost anything without getting sick (includes raw food)
Omophagea: Can gain a skill, memory and impressions of a devoured enemy (must eat part of brain)
Multi-Lung: Can hold longer breath underwater, less likely to get affected by gases, certain other elements in the air, etc.
Occulube and Lyman’s Ear: Far better Vision & Hearing in comparison to normal humans
Sus-an Membrane: You may enter coma (consciously)
Oolotic Kidney: Higher resistance against toxins and other poisons.
Neuroglottis: You may detect any poison or toxin by taste with a successful Awareness Test. You gain a +10 to Tracking Tests against a target you have tasted.
Mucranoid: Can endure extreme temperatures that would kill normal humans.
Betcher’s Gland: Allows to spit poison.
    Progenoids: The Gene-Seed.
Black Carapace: Perfect interaction with the power armor.

    And your Power Armor:
    Servo-Augmented Musculature: Strength Bonus
Auto-senses: Dark Sight, immune to Photon Flash and Stun Grenades; Increased Hearing & Sight
    Built-in Vox Link
    Built-in Magboots
Nutrient Recycling: Can operate for two weeks without re-supply
Recoil Suppression: May fire Basic weapons 1-handed without penalty
Poor Manual Dexterity: Using non-Astartes-sized equipment will make problems.
Osmotic Gill Life Sustainer: With the helmet on, the armour is environmentally sealed (means also void safe)

You will get other special abilities throughout gameplay. For Librarians I will go over with them 1on1 of which spells they can cast. So you will earn everything in given time, also there will be chances to requisition equipment for a deployment to fit a mission, though they will be returned after the mission until you earned to keep certain gear, which will be basically an upgrade to your standard gear.

Standard Skills & Knowledge for all Deathwatch Astartes:
    - Driving Imperial Ground Vehicles (Rhinos, Predators, etc.)
    - Imperial Structure & Ranks
    - Imperial Vehicles and other Items (names and functionality; includes spaceships)
    - Imperial History (majority of big campaigns and other major events such as the Black Crusades & Badab War)
    - Xenos species basic information (such as look and equipment)
    - Operating all Astartes Weapons (From Shotguns as Scout to Missile Launcher as Devastator)

    Standard Skills for Certain Individuals:
    - Air & Spacecrafts (such as Thunderhawk) for Techmarines & Fleet-Based Chapters only
    - Chapter Ciphers (each of their own chapter)
    Grall_Stonefist and Angles like this.

    Example Character:

    Chapter:
    Sons of Guilliman

    Class:
    Apothecary

    Standard Equipment:
    Astartes power armour (Mark VII/7)
    Astartes bolt pistol
    3 Astartes frag grenades
    3 Astartes krak grenades
    Astartes combat knife
    repair cement
one Chapter Trapping - Codex Astartes copy
    +
Chainsword instead of Bolt Pistol upgrade or Bolter.
    reductor and narthecium

    Appearance:
Half the head is scarred with burning wounds from engagements with Tau. Hair stopped growing on the side. 2.25 meter tall, 650kg heavy with armor.

    Past:
The Son of Guilliman fought in a campaign in the Ultima Segmentum along his company (3rd) to stop the advance of the Tau on Augura. The sacrifice was huge among with other chapters, but in the end it was worth it as the Sons of Guilliman along with other chapters pushed the Tau back in their own territory. As Apothecary he managed to save gene-seeds of dozen fallen brothers and even more lives were saved due to his valor and courage. Upon recommendation from his chapter master and other chapters, he finally accepted to leave his brethren and join the Deathwatch to help others fight Tau more efficiently, as well as learn about other threats.

Since the Sons of Guilliman are a fleet based chapter, they fought many Xenos across the entire galaxy, although they operate mostly in the Segmentum Ultima and Obscurus ever since the Tau started their advance, as well as the Third War of Armageddon and Thirteenth Black Crusade.

    Power Armour History:
The Power Armour he wields is the same his mentor had, before he became a full-fledged Apothecary. The Power Armour seems to always know who is in most need or will need a medic before events even occur. It happened more than once that a rune of a battle brother went from green to amber before he even was hit. That is why he dubs his armour 'Larramans Blessing'.

    Personality:
The Codex Astartes is his life, as it is for every Son of Guilliman. And so he will act accordingly and fights his emotions whenever he can, because his duty is more important. Though in general he is the ideal brother. Ready to catch a bullet or two for those around him, never giving up on ones life and a talented field medic who can keep a calm mind even in the wildest crossfires. He does not even remember his homeworld anymore, only that he serves Warmaster Guilliman, the God-Emperor and his chapter until death.

    Name:
    Sirius Jules

    RP Rules:
Since this is casual please try not to mary sue or anything, I will intervene if anything seems not alright. I will also handle perils of the warp and such things. There will be no wounds or such, therefor if I indicate that someone is most likely going to die, then that might happen if you keep going. I also will indicate if you can beat a horde or not. Lore will be taken serious, but no lore-police will run around here. Just basics. I.E. That all Craftworld Eldar are Psykers. Or that Space Wolves have no Chaplains , Librarians, Techmarines or Apothecaries. They have Rune Priests, Iron Priests and Wolf Priests.

Since Character Creation seems a bit difficult even if in reality it simply is deep so you think about your characters personality and nature and not just throw a wannabe hero in there but an actual human. I decided to make some peeps you can choose from:

    #1 - White Scars Assault
    Equipment:

    Astartes power armour (Mark IV)
    Astartes bolt pistol
    3 Astartes frag grenades
    3 Astartes krak grenades
    Astartes combat knife
    repair cement
one Chapter Trapping - Skulls (1 Dark Eldar Trueborn of a smaller Kabal)
    +
    Chainsword & Jump Pack

    Appearance:
The White Scar has pure white hair hanging as a ponytail from the top of his head, shaved bald around. He has also a white mustache covering his upper lips and chin in typical White Scar fashion. He towers 2.40 meters without power armor, around 2.60 with it, combined with a weight of 850 kilos.

    Past:
Like many White Scars, this one was in a hunting raid for Dark Eldar, although it was not even near their home world, instead the 5th company moved with a small fleet toward the Maelstrom to hunt a certain Dark Eldar Archon and his Corsair fleet. A space battle started almost immediately upon arrival in the orbit of a deadly jungle world. The Archon fled to the ground, the White Scars assumed he was to run with the webway, so they hunted him.

This White Scar led a small squadron of five riders and together they did not get the Archon, but slaughtered at least a hundred Kaballites. They were already engaged with the primal beasts on the world and just when they were about to defeat the animals, the White Scars destroyed them all. Having driven through the jungle and smashed various plants they seemed to have gotten a pheromone that the animals caused to lick them post-combat rather than fight the White Scars.

This victory was held high, especially after the head this White Scar removed from the Dark Eldar group leader was identified as the Trueborn Son of the hunted Archon. In a follow-up battle, the Archon recognized the skull of his child and went into a full offensive, dooming himself as the Khan of the 5th slew the Archon. With a victory and minimal losses the White Scars returned to their home.

    Power Armour History:
The Armour favors speed and hates to be slow. The armour has a 'Wild Rider' machine spirit and will do whatever it can to protect the rider on a steed, but whenever the wielder is on foot, it cares little and may even malfunction if it gets not enough speed.

    Personality:
Like majority of White Scars, this one lives for the hunt. No enemy is too big, no enemy too small. The more slain, the better. To take trophies along is a must, because they show what a man has done.

    #2 - Iron Hand Tactical
    Equipment

    Astartes power armour (Mark VI)
    Astartes bolt pistol
    3 Astartes frag grenades
    3 Astartes krak grenades
    Astartes combat knife
    repair cement
one Chapter Trapping - Ring with Symbol of his Clan (Atraxii)
    +
    Astartes bolter with fire selector
one additional clip of Special Issue ammunition per mission

    Appearance:
The Iron Hand is unlike most of his brethren almost free of Bionics, having only his left lower arm to hand replaced which was required upon initiation. He is completely bald and metallic grey eyes meet one when he opens his eyes. Scar tissues covering his body. Plasma, Bolt, Fire, Melee. He had seen all sort of combat and wore testimony of such on his very body.

    Past:
Soon after his recruitment, it became clear that this Iron Hand was a master of flexibility. He had no preference of weapon, but instead was talented with everything equally. Blade, Bolter, Flamethrower, Plasmagun, Heavy Weapons, it did not matter. And as such he became a Tactical Marine.

Like all of his brothers, the Iron Hands mobilized for the 13th Black Crusade where he served. Having looked into the Eye of Terror, seen daemons and spawns of unimaginable horrors that can even move an Astartes. The Atraxii mobilized to aid other chapters, but were caught off-guard before they ever arrived. Half of the clan was devastated until they could make a stand.

They fought for hours until reinforcements in the form of Clan Sorrgol arrived and relieved the trapped Iron Hands. From that point on, both Clans were much closer to one another. But on a personal level, the Iron Hand lost his closest brother, for he was truly of his own blood, a real brother. Both had been recruited at the same time. Where his brother was filled with Bionics, having had both arms and legs replaced, himself he was almost free of them.

To a degree the Iron Hands saying of "Flesh is Weak" became untrue to him and he was unsure what to believe and what he stand for. But his survival and prior campaigns granted him to join the Deathwatch.

    Power Armour History:
The Armour protects his wielder, like a massive shield. It desires to be attacked over others, because the Machine Spirit believes to be capable of enduring any damage. Itself it may see it as indestructible, which sometimes can lead to severe wounds to its wielder.

    Personality:
Despite his connection to the Omnissiah like most of his brethren, he decided that Bionics truly only should be installed when necessary. I.E. Leg or Arm replacement. Which yet have to happen to this Iron Hand, besides his initiation part. Also through his experiences during the 13th Black Crusade, he is not so sure anymore if Flesh truly is Weakness.

    Name:
<player who takes this may choose>

    #3 - Blood Angel Chaplain (Claimed by @lord-watchman )
    Equipment

    Astartes power armour (Mark V)
    Astartes bolt pistol
    3 Astartes frag grenades
    3 Astartes krak grenades
    Astartes combat knife
    repair cement
one Chapter Trapping - Golden Chalice, covered in chapter symbols & ciphers (attached to waist)
    +
    Skull Helmet
    Crozius Arcanum

    Appearance:
The Skull Helmet usually covers the face of this Chaplain, but when not worn, it reveals the face of a true regal and noble man. His face never harmed, except for his eye that was taken when he was quite young, claimed by an Ork. Interesting though is that his scars across his body are only of blades, none of a projectile.

    Past:
During the Assault on Baal, when this Blood Angel was still less than a century old, he fought among his brothers against the Waagh of Big Skorcha. Having been trained to Assault Marine so far, he found himself in a squad that was led by a Chaplain. It was a massacre overall as all survivors knew.

What some claimed was luck as survival, the Chaplain claimed was a blessing to the young Blood Angel. It was like a radiant glow that embraced the young man as he swung his Chainsword right and left, claiming Ork lives one after another. Besting even a Nob in melee after he chopped into the left side of the Angels face, causing eye to be lost and scarred forever. With anger, but not rage, he replied and the Chainsword found a neck to remove the head from.

The few survivors of the squad which were the Chaplain, the Sergeant and the young Blood Angel himself were saved like most other combatants by the reinforcements from orbit. Shortly after, he left the Assault Marines and was trained to become a Chaplain for the seventh company.

Much time went by, until The Darkest Hour of the Blood Angels came. All but the Lamenters came to the children of Sanguinius to repel Daemons and Tyranids. It was here when the now Battle-Hardened Chaplain with the bionic eye led a squad of Assault Marines, just like the one that chose him did back then.

They fought against the Daemonkin of Khorne under Ka'Bandha. It was luckily not Khorne that posessed them, but the memories of Sanguinius. He did all he could to guide the Assault Marines after they lost themselves and each of them slaughtered dozens of Daemons before they fell. The Chaplain himself was spared through his training, but would never forgive what the heretics did. By survival he earned the right to join the Deathwatch.

    Power Armour History:
The Power Armour is known by the chaplains and librarians of the chapter to guide ones path, which is why it always remained in the hands of Chaplains. It is said that one wearing this armor, can never do wrong, the machine spirit knows what justice and what not, guiding it's wielder sometimes in unnatural ways to the truth and justice.e

    Personality:
As Chaplain, especially within the Blood Angels, he is always on the front to lead and guide his brethren, making him a natural leader against the powers of Chaos, and a stoic and strong willed man. There is no shadow of doubt where he stands, as the Emperor seems to have chosen this one as his one of his stronger beacons of light.

  4. Chapter: Spacewolves (who would have thought O.O)

    Class: Runepriest.

    Standard equipment:
Mark 5 massively Runed power armour.
    Rune staff.
    bolt pistol
    3 frag
    3 krak
    repair cements
    bag of rune stones

    Apearence:
He looks like a wizened old man, with silver grey hair. and a long braided beard falling down over his armour. (if it needs to put on his hemet, then it takes time to be done right. though it can still be snapped on ;))
like 2.50cm out of armour and 2.75cm & 860 kg with power armor

    Past:
During one of the field deployments on Midgardia, the Runepriest managed to call upon the ancient spirits of the tombs and world to let the very world itself devour a Necron Monolith among with a legion (~50-100) of their warriors to be never seen again.

This move allowed fellow Space Wolves to not just survive but turn the tides of battle, along with leftovers of PDF troops to teach even the soulless Necrons fear, as they were hacked and slain by the Imperial Forces.

Despite the Necron leaders escape, many lives had been saved due to the Priests efforts and combined with his experience from Betalis III where he served under Bran Redmaw, he was recommended by the Wolf Lords and majority of Rune Priests to be seconded to the Deathwatch to learn more about the Xenos, but also share his knowledge to the other chapters.

Upon his departure, his old mentor Greirold Ghostwolf told him to return whenever he felt ready to come back, but latest in twelve Great Years for the Festival of the Wolf Time.

    Power armour History:
also the armour will be an old march 5 armour that has been the ownership of varius Runepriest since its creation, meaning it is completely adorned with different runes, some names and honer marks, other bindings of strentgh, luck and protection.

    Personality:
Hengist is a wize old marine, and acts like it, though he is still Fenrian and the planets wrathfull spirit is truely in his soul. He truely despices the xenos, though he is capable of some bending.

    Name: Hengist Ghostmaker.

    Chapter: Blood Ravens
    Class: Techmarine

    Equipment:
    Astartes power armor-Mark 4
    Astartes bolt pistol
    3 Astartes frag grenades
    3 Astartes krak grenades
    Astartes combat knife
    repair cement
Chapter Trapping-Notebook(Notes on Daemon Engines + which Sub sects use which type of Engine)
    +
    Astartes bolter with fire selector
    Astartes servo-arm
Common craftsmanship Mind Impulse Unit (MIU)

    Appereance
The Blood Raven has a small claw mark on the right side of his face from a battle with the Tyranids. Short, black hair, 2.4 meters tall and 725 kg heavy with power armor on.

    Past:
The Blood Raven is a veteran of the dark times that the decade of battle in sub-sector Aurelia were, having survived all three crusades there with distinction. His service history before Aurelia was in the second company, having taken part in a campaign against the Dark Eldar on the world of Iticha Prime before the Aurelian crusades. His action during his time in Aurelia that got him to the attention of the Chapter master and by extension the Deathwatch, was the Blood Raven killing a Bloodcrusher by himself, as he was separated from the squad at the time.

The Blood Ravens are a fleet-based chapter, and therefore have considerable experience battling Xenos through out the galaxy. However current events have forced them into recovering from considerable losses, a matter made harder from most of their recruiting worlds being ravaged.

    Power Armor history
The Power Armor used by the Blood Raven has been worn by those in the chapter that have frequently found themselves separated from their Brothers and therefore it would seem that the Power Armor has an instinctive guide for it's user to aid him in whatever task it's bearer is engaged with, with the armor's guidance often attributed to a sixth sense or a flash of insight.... But its guidance is rare, for it only comes when truly needed.

Personality: The Blood Raven tends to eschew the normal methods that the Codex Astartes dictates in battle, and instead prefers to improvise and plan with his own information, based on what he knows to work. The only time he'd touch the book is if there was a very serious lack of bog roll. His outlook on Xenos is dependant on the situation, as he would talk with a reasonable Xeno if the situation demanded it, or to see if a better outcome is possible for the Imperium..... If a finding or gaining a better outcome is not dependant on him speaking to a Xeno, he would not do so. Unless the talking to said Xeno involved his bolter. Outside the field of battle, he prefers solitude to companionship(barring machines)

    4#
    Appearence:
Size: 1.9m (he lost some height due to his bionic legs)
Weight 900 kilos (a bit heavier because ^^)

    Act of epic awesomesauce
    Why he joined the deathwatch:

It was on Medusa itself, when the 13th Black crusade threatened his chapter's homeworld that this marine did make his mark in imperial history. An armored advance of chaos predators and corrupted leman russ' battle tanks were about to break through a valley which would have allowed the heretics to flank the main Iron Hands assault. While he and his brethren fought bravely, the heretics were too strong there. The only thing that had given them hope was a land raider, yet when a lucky shot from a chaos predator seemingly disabled it, the loyalist lines began to buckle.

Just when those marines were certain they would meet their primarch, one lone techmarine ran from the bunkers and towards that land raider. Immediately heretic tanks spotted him and opened fire, kicking up clouds of dirt and scorching holes as that lone marine ran. However it did not go all well for him, not 20m from his target a battle cannon blew off the mechanicus adept's legs. That did not stop the Ferrus' scion though, dragging himself along with his servo harness, the marine made it and climbed up and into the sacred vehicle.

Only the thought of the Ommnissiah and the Primarch watching over him kept this techmarine lucid as he feverishly reconnected cables and welded sacred plates back together. Suddenly the ancient construct shuddered to life, machine spirit coming back with a vengeance, it's las-cannons swiveled and blasted chaotic armor right and left as it took revenge on the slaves of the dark gods. This servant of the emperor then connected his MIU to the land raider and assisted the artifact of the dark ages in destroying all those who dared sully the homeworld of Ferrus Manus.

He was found comatose inside the vehicle when his brothers pushed back the heretics and quickly rescued by an apothecary. The techmarine awoke in bed, new legs already implanted and his company's, former company's, captain waiting. The officer thanked and told him that he would be heading to the deathwatch as soon as possible, marines like him were sorely needed there.

    Power armour history
Bathed in blood, this suit has been passed down from techmarine to techmarine, it's bearer's continually shedding blood for the Emperor and the Omnissiah, even their own. It is an armour that has seen sacrifice time and time again, always sustaining heavy damage but still being repairable. It's strength only growing as weak spots and blind angles are replaced, repaired and fixed, becoming only stronger each time. Retreat is an anathema to it, but a marine that chooses to stand strong and stay to fight against the enemies of man will get only the best out this ancient relic.

    Personality:
A strong believer in the Iron Hands way: Weakness is not tolerated, strength is the only true way to serve the Emperor. Those too weak must fall for the imperium to survive, only the strong can save the world.
Never had he felt so close to the primarch than that day, not even when he looked at the statue's in His shrine. He still swears to this day that he saw one message one the land raider's console just before it all went black: Well done, you are a worthy enough to honor my name.
