A quote from the TF2 Wiki:
There are other forms of Death-cams. Sometimes you follow your killer around for a bit, other times you just get to look around.

    • Can Death-cams ruin a game? Yes, they sometimes reveal good hiding spots, strategies and enemy movement that you would not know of.
The way PlanetSide2 tried to avoid revealing too much, they just showed you a profile of your killer. No position on the map and no camera to follow him around.

I would be fine with just a list containing names, factions, weapons used and % of the total damage done to me.

Please share your thoughts on this. Do you think it would be a good idea to have a Death-cam after you die?

    Best regards,

  2. I'd be happy with just who killed me to be honest.

Red Orchestra or WW2OL-esque is fine. You basically just get an immediate black screen. I hate kill cams and death cams for the reasons you stated. Completely reveals ambush or firing positions.

Profile of the killer is good enough for me.

I don't want to it for one major reason, lag.
As cool as kill cams are, anything that may cause server side lag just doesn't need to be in the game. In a 100v100 fight it is possible to have 50+deathes at once, a kill cam would add a lot of unneeded prosing.
If they can add it I don't think it would add anything to the game.

I can relate to what you are saying.

The only benefits you can get out of this are:
    • You see who killed you and where he is hiding
    • You see the build he is using (if applicable) and could try it yourself
That being said, as the guy doing the killing, I really do not want people to know where I am.

Kill cams get annoying after a while to me. They're neat at first, but I eventually end up spamming the use key to end it so I can get back into the fight. Too much info can also give away positions and tactics, which I don't like.
Just very basic stuff, like seeing the name of the player who killed me as my bloody corpse falls over, is enough.

Yes, cuz what's the point in looking awesome if you can't rub it in your opponents face!

You will sell much more skins and customization options

No kill cams for me, as people have said. Gives away great ambush spots.

Happy to see the profile of who's killed me. I've had plenty of after action friendly messages from people who I've ended up in a sort of personal grudge match with.

    No.

Kill-cams just give away positions, I'm fine with a small box that says what he used and what his name was and whatnot, but no giving away his position by showing me where he is.

I'd rather have a kill feed like Dust514, that lists killer, weapon used for killing blow and the person killed. Kill Cams, as already stated, can reveal too much and I personally feel they'd break the immersion and flow of the game.

If they do have a Kill Cam, I hope it's like the one in Space Marine and only pans your camera to face the direction you were killed from. After that if gives you the killer's load out but the camera follows one of the players on your team while you wait to spawn.
