Dbash not working/being hit through by attacks.

Discussion in 'Orks' started by creme-de-la-bear, Mar 2, 2017.

  1. Playing Eldar and Ork here.
All I can say is d-bashing as Eldar is definitely more reliable. As Ork it basically never works.

As a (mostly) lsm player, DBashing Eldar is frustrating, because they just roll out every time.
  3. so from the comments made in this thread the reason for dbash's unreliableness is due to the iframes being decreased+lag = dbash not counting, as the window in which it connects and stuns is smaller.

However as any young and enterprising ork knows our dbash still sucks animationwise due to it being much slower(and slightly finicky) because it was indirectly nerfed when it's invincibility frames were lessened along with all races dbash's it's now utterly useless.

Can we please either get a fix, rework of the animation or remove the damn thing from the game at this point!

D-bash is now so easy to avoid because no more tracking on it(at least for me).
Bait the LSM, CSM or Eldar to do the D-bash, insta roll back when ya notice the animation and hip fire from the shoota will finish the job.
This works because most of the players know how bad is ork D-bash.

The metagame is pretty much power attacks. Think about it, you risk nothing. For fast attack and D-bash, you risk getting stunned if the enemy does a counter, but never with a power attack. If the enemy counters a power attack, you clash, and you're often breaking their weapon at the same time if you're a melee class.

I'd say Lunge is the way to go, since their out of the RPS system. I've fought LSM that can lunge after every three steps. Don't you have to hold down sprint to lunge-?

I've also done this weird sprinting headbutt occasionally (Never actually while hand to hand with someone) Is that supposed to be our lunge?

The other thing about Ork melee, is if you miss your lunge, you won't manage to turn around before your dead, because you just presented the enemy your very vulnerable arse where you take more damage, and a light attack later it's over. Should we have a superior lunge, because if you miss it your at a severe disadvantage. I'm not saying Make it OP, but bare in mind a Risk Vs Rewards mindset. The risk of the lunge is far more impractical if you miss compared to say- on a SM, where being hit in the back is obviously not good, but you don't take extra damage. Theres zero rewards, as i think our lunge doesn't quite work right either?

If you miss your lunge and you are not using the axe or powaclaw then just spam light attacks to continue moving foward if there isn't a wall or in my case just spam+ any other direction to mess with the enemies.
It took them about 15 seconds to actually kill me while other boyz were picking them off. :D
One more weakness of the ranged attackers, their mouse turning speed is so slow and they usually are in the aim mode.

  8. D-bash was fine pre last patch; worked as intended even with a wonky animation. Of course latency issues came into play every now and then, but it wasn't a deal breaker.

...Which isn't the case anymore. This last patch has absolutely destroyed melee. Fast attacks going through d-bash, heavy attacks going through light attacks. Melee isn't viable/reliable at all until they fix this mess.

Wow... I feel so much better after reading this thread. I had thought it was just me!

Even some of the recommended workarounds in this thread don't generally work for me as I'm also playing with a crazy high overseas ping. I've literally had enemy Dbash block my PK heavy attack with no damage, then stun me when the Dbash fired, stab, execute. I've had to limit most of my Stormboy melee shenanigans to simply slowly draining defending team lives by catching defenders alone and unaware and ragdoll punching them to the moon. (Super frustratingly, not even that works reliably. Plenty of times it's done 0 damage and the resulting scuffle gets me noticed and shot.)

I keep seeing people talk about this "lunge", and I've even watched videos of people doing it, but whenever I try it, I just stop running forward and do a normal swing for normal damage, complete with a moment of delay as I switch from sprint to melee. What's the trick? I heard that the headbutt animation Spookums noticed was supposed to be it, but I've never even seen it trigger in videos.

EDIT: I agree that this needs to be a top priority fix. Melee is a huge part of 40k, and one of the things that makes EC unique. Having a broken melee system is one of my chief frustrations as a newer premium player, and the one I see being the top reason among my friends for low new player retention.

The Ork Lunge, as i understand it is a running headbutt. But it's -very- rare it happens visually, It's usually just a light attack. This is ridiculous compared to SM's that can spam lunge with but a mere three steps between them. Doubly ridiculous when it bypasses the RPS system and you'll usually die without being able to do anything, as you can't even dodge away from the person doing it, because they'll just lunge again to close the distance. Light attacks are supposed to be the counter but I've never managed to win vs a lunge with any of the RPS moves.

Edit: I have more or less said this a few posts up- but- I'm lazy, and this posts staying here too!
