How I see this argument now Poster 1 " I like X DoW game because [reasons]" poster 2 "Well I like the other DoW series because [reasons]" poster1/2 " you don't agree with me? YOU ARE F@#$ING WRONG!!!"
Then someone who turns up and likes them all and is hated by all because they didn't dislike that one which they dislike. Ah, young love.
Pretty much, both games had good parts and bad parts. DoW 2 nailed it on the story-telling but seeing 16 Astartes save an entire sub-sector alone twice is just too much. The maps for the most part looked great but frequently consisted of narrow corridors with the occasional arena. DoW 1 had great unit diversity and faction variety, but it looks fairly dated now and the campaigns weren't as good.
the gauntlet has been thrown lol. i actually liked both games, dow2 more only due to the closer more personal feel to the campaign. but i want no part of the bloodbath that follows this post.
I hate building and resource management. I get that its an important part of Starcraft or whatever, but can't DoW move beyond that? Make it about selecting units before the battle and managing them during? Zugg Zugg, Work work. Why? Why would I collect rocks to make units when I has spaceship full of Spezzs Murines. DoW2 could definitely have used more units but the building and mining of DoW1 just felt like a chore. And it's starting to look like they are doing the opposite of what I want. Unfortunate for me. Hopefully other people like it more.
Mining? I started during dark crusade and I don 't recall collecting any resources. Just holding points while fighting forward to gain requisition to get better points, and auto collecting power nodes. Kind of exactly like DoW2 multiplayer had.
