From what I saw in their trailer, it seems like they're on the verge of vanishing. So they're forced to take on initiates far too quickly as full Astarties. As evidence of the Chainsword going head to head with a Killa Kan.
That's not exactly covered in the Codex Astarties. Not too mention, the one standing right under two titans as they fall over. Any skilled veteran would run for cover.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Blood Ravens start to slowly die out. Their chapter recruitment worlds aren't exactly plentiful anymore.

yes the entire trailer is oniric/dreamy and not actual stuff happening in a battlefield.

Regarding the surreal dream like environment and apparent symbolism, I'm guessing the Chainswords in the ground and withering the storm could be viewed as a visual representation of the Blood Raven's losses and finally the horde of Orks devastating them a reference to the Orks wiping out a few of their recruitment worlds.

In the trailer it only reeks of strategical failure...

    and warp dust. :p

    On an different note:
I hope it wont be the same multiplayer testing crew again, this one shouldnt become 'dawn of eldar'.

I'm really hoping for some solid cinematic experience in this game. Dawn of War 2 had a much more engaging story, but it still felt like it was 'from a distance'. I would like to see real in-depth character development, especially for Gabriel, who certainly has his fair share of past demons (no pun intended) to deal with.

While they both had their story elements that they did really well, they also had elements which were done EXTREMELY poorly. A lot of DoW up to now has just felt like visual bolter porn (although that isn't all bad, given it's a video game), however it would be nice to have the bolter porn visuals on top of a solid and engaging story.

What the hell are you talking about, man? Initiates may not be full Astartes, but only in mind and spirit, not body. When they get their implants, Initiates become very big compared to mortal men already. Not to mention the fact that Power Armors come only in 1 size, it's not like the STC starts making a different armor type for skinny Astartes. The SMs we see in the trailer are plainly Relic's failure of trying to be innovative with the SM's model.

I have no idea where you got that from. Going back to base building is like going 100 miles away from Moba genre already, and having heroes is nothing new in DoW, even the mods emphasize on that.

base buidling can be extremely moba-y imagine that when you build a barracks it outomatically spawns out a unit every so often and it just charges at the enemy base

then they had this to say
"You have three elite slots, which must be assigned before each battle. They are designed to let you define your play style, and to support a variety of strategies for each race. In the single player campaign you collect a wide range of elites that can be levelled up—an attempt to emulate the pleasure of collecting and building armies in the tabletop game. Elites can be individual heroes, crack units such as Assault Terminators, or super units.

For multiplayer, inspired by Dota's hero selection phase, Relic designers are considering an element of pick and counter-pick to the pre-battle screen, though they're yet to show exactly how this will work."

    "
Dawn of War 1 style bases are back. They produce your workaday line units such as Tactical Marines, heavy-weapon Devastators and Dreadnought walkers. As in previous games, you build power generators and capture requisition points in the field to acquire resources.

If your Space Marines are too lazy to walk you can load units into three drop pods and smash them into a fight to surprise and squash the enemy. This is a key part of the Space Marines' 'death from above' strategy, which also incorporates jump-pack powered Assault Marines and a giant orbital laser—more on that later."

the wording on this is just so strange to me. Why three drop pods and only three? Why only three elite units? Why collecting, why chosing them before a battle? Why do bases just produce things instead of you can build? People are choosy about words and everything points towards a moba. Seeing as how SEGA already has a AAA RTS being made it wouldn't suprise me if they demanded relic make this a base building moba

As well with the art style and they said they want this to be the most accesable rts. Add in the narrow lanes the screenshots are showing and it just looks like a MOBA. It just sounds like a mobile game clash of clans/ dota. Everything I have heard so far has greatly upset me. I want a full fledge game, not a click and go like it seems to be.

Really? The screenshots shown? You know they're taken from a demo, right? That's easily a pre-alpha version of the game, and you don't judge a game based on its pre-alpha build, period. The art style is extremely similar to another RTS of Relic right now, and we all know what that is, CoH 2, yeah, that game is very colorful too.

Base building is not that common in MOBA, no conventional MOBA currently on the market has it. Stop making things up. And MOBA centers around controlling 1 single unit, the screenshots clearly show that you can control other units beside the Hero, so it's definitely not a MOBA. Moreover, the Elites and collecting units are from the campaign, DoW 2 had the same thing, did you even read the article before posting your comment?

And "considering" means exactly what it means, they haven't decided on that feature yet. Maybe they're considering it because they will have a lot of heroes and those heroes can counter each other, so for competitive mode you'll need a ban pick system to avoid abuse. Still that's entirely just a theory.
