I really hope they merge the best elements from both games and increment upon, refining the mechanics. And oh your god! I just need a date to program my no life status.
I'd like to see from DOW1: Base building Large maps Large unit size I'd like to see from DOW2: Cover system (Eg taking cover behind things) Destructible environment The Last Stand Multi-faction campaign Same engine
I would add in that DOW2 list the diference with the range and melee combat. Both were more significant in DOW2 than 1. If a unit that it's not specialized in melle it's engage by one that is, the player must deal with or retreat, but in the first game you could just let you squad there and they may hold... for a time. I like this diference in the DOW2... but, that's just my humble opinion, of curse
