Well... it is a battle... just one where each side has to do a bit more decision making than a-moving your average DoW1 army around the map...
Well i didn't compare it with DoW1 or say it was superior and i'm not criticizing it according to my taste in RTS. I'm just talking about DoW2. But definitely engage, break, engage again, break again, forward and backward 50 times (i can use this phrase forever ) with nearly same small band of warriors isn't exactly 40k kind of battle.
As much fun as DOW1 was I think I actually do prefer the way they handled armies in DOW2. Less time worrying about managing economy and production and more focus on utilizing your units effectively. I just want more races in DOW3 and I'd be happy.
I'd say DoW3 is at least pseudo-confirmed 1. "The Senior Narrative Designer will be responsible for delivering every aspect of the narrative for an exciting, unannounced title." - Relic Entertainment Website 2a. Almost every post Relic makes on social media (even those completely unrelated to Warhammer) will get at least one "DOW3 PLS" comment 2b. Relic are now owned by SEGA. SEGA love money and can smell a dime from up to 3000km. 3. Dawn of War 3 domain registered. Or maybe I'm just too optimistic ._.
Love to hear about this! I love DoW1 more the 2 because I have the freedom of large customization and the ability to create MASSIVE army's such as my favorite imperial guard tank swarms, in DoW1. But I do get the more tatical game play of DoW2 theses two games are a best in their own right. So I only hope that my Beast wins out and becomes DoW3 with much needed updates and army creation tools.
Which is why SEGA can pump out yearly crappy Sonic and Co games for maximum profit, I thought they didn't have the best 2015 period though?
