Darksouls In Eternal Crusade?

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Rahmer, Oct 31, 2013.

  1. Actually plenty of the Storm Shields are charged with their own powerfield which are capable of stopping Power Weapons (They are weaker and will fail much quicker but they CAN be blocked).

Play at Dark Soul in PVP, and after imagine the same fight with 1k player, and then come say if you can or not play like in Dark soul on Eternal Crusade, please !

    One word: Meltagun.

I have killed many assaults that think they are hot shit and try to jump me i then proceed to just turn around and blast their face off.

Sounds like you're just bad. (Thought that's not to say the MP for SM doesn't have issues but it's still pretty fun. Thought the hitboxes can be pretty off admittedly.)

I believe they already said that they won't go 100% SM-like combat style...I think they are going for something abit slower and more tactical.
  5. it better not be too similar to space marine. i love the combat in that, but its meant for killing DROVES of enemies, and trying to target an enemy is painful in multiplayer--exterminatus however, is a blast. It ends up being about who starts spamming close combat attacks firsts. combat can be VERY fast paced--look at chivalry medieval warfare. That shit can be either grueling with duels that take forever, with opponents probing eachother for weaknesses, trying to make eachother slip up, or with someone slashing through enemies, heads flying all over the place.
    highs2lows likes this.

  6. Yes, it's entirely my fault for not having a meltagun handy at all times. Heaven forbid I try and play one of the other two classes, or use anything other than Stalker/Bolter combo with grenade spam.

Maybe if SM was, oo, this little thing called BALANCED then more builds would be useable and we wouldn't have had Stalker/Melta and Hammer being pretty much the 'I win' builds of SM.

Don't come at me with 'get good'...freaking Internet Warriors...

People who play with a hammer have a risk be killed my melta gun, heavy bolter, all guns when they are far of his target, but just because he one shoot you the game is not balanced ?
    Funny...
  8. Nobody is debating that understanding control scheme, input delay and mechanical design can make you a good player at any game.

SM worked for SM and DS worked for DS.

I personally found the Melee component of DS more gratifying in the multiplayer portion of the game than I did in SM. The reason being that even surrounded by mass amounts of enemies and against another player, the situation demanded a greater level of skill and understanding of mobility, which was far more responsive to my input demands than SM ever was. This had nothing to do with latency, skill or load out, it was a difference in design.

DS would work as better inspiration, since even the multiplayer component demanded a player understood when the swing was coming in and if a parry would be better than a flat out block or dodge. It also caused you to gauge your enemy more and many fights ended in a single strike if you built your character for pvp combat. An opponent who is constantly switching weapons and stances for attacks and can read you faster than you can read them was always an exciting challenge. Especially if you manage to boot them off of a cliff instead of dealing with their fancy fighting style.

I hope that this dev crew pays close attention to DS2 to see if they improve the combat formula and see if it would be a good source of inspiration to make melee very gratifying in this game.

There is nothing wrong with SM, it's just not the beacon I would use to guide my dev team.

  9. Any SM Assault Marine that gives the enemy the opportunity to shoot them in the first place is an idiot, and deserves to get shot.
Good ASM players never get shot, because they stay in cover or up high and then land on unsuspecting targets and one shot them.
  10. Meh, Assault Marines were easy to deal with if you were paying attention. If you tunnel visioned you died and rightly so.
