@Zaeryn What are you talking about? I used 1/6 as a base: it's right there in my calculation.

The 'perfect' number of decimal places for a recurring decimal is infinite. Since that's somewhat impractical, you should be using the fraction (division) in your calculation to avoid having to round it at all.

Alternatively, you could keep all your calculations in fractions and not convert to decimal at all. Easier to program code in decimal though.

Just for the record, if we were to keep your calculation in fractions, it looks like this:

    1/6 x 4 = 4/6 = 2/3

Do pray tell me what 2/3 would be in decimal with proper rounding?

what they need is a new skullface helmet. *points to my avatar*

Then convert that 1/6 to a numerical value and round to the nearest tenth. Done. What's the problem?

The "perfect" number of decimal places in a video game is the fewest possible as the less numbers the game has to process the more quickly it can process events taking place. I'm sorry but a unit cannot have 2/3 Armor Value. It can have, however, 66.8 Armor Value, which is a numerical representation of 2/3, using 1/6 as the base and rounding that number(16.6666666) to the nearest tenth(16.7).

66.8. I already said it. Goldfish memory?

That's why you round to the nearest tenth. It is still more accurate than rounding to the nearest whole, without all the unnecessary extra numbers tacked on the end using up processing power.

Agreed. Skulls for the Dark Reapers!

    2 things.

Assigning numbers to this game is still a joke. Idky it continues.

Not that it's a huge deal unless there's a large amount of transactional computations, but rounding rather than truncating before multiplying into larger values is a really good way to really fuck up you're own precise suggestions @Zaeryn.

For example, a loop ran 1000 times using the value 16.6 instead of 16.7 is going cause a major difference, especially if those values are further compounded via armor mitigation or other factors.

Relax man. Why on earth do these numbers have to be argued over to a tenth of a fraction or suggested in the first place?

    First thing:
Not realizing video games are dependent on numbers to even function and/or be balanced is sad. Idky it continues.

Rounding before multiplying is a really good way to keep my own precise suggestions precise.

Exactly, which is why the actual numbers used matter.

Because changes to numbers result in different outcomes in video games and numbers are what provide the playability and balance of a game.

Anyone else having the guided rocket on the Reaper Launcher randomly flying off at a 90 degree angle after it travels for a bit? Also, having the projectile itself vanishing after a random distance for no reason?

They are very "bouncy" currently, but usually you can prevent it from going haywire by not having more than one missiles in the air, as that seems to fog up the "targeting" of the first missile.

I tried only having one projectile out at a time and was still encountering erratic direction changes. That is both zoomed and unzoomed, there didn't really seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. The only constant was trying to hit a flak torrent posted up on a wall.

Pressing LMB changes its direction. I haven't noticed any random changes - just when I pressed my mouse button. Which actually gives much more control over the projectile, so hopefully that's not a bug.
