In the TT the Dark Reapers are even slower than normal guys (Slow and Purposeful). They don't get slowed by firing super accurately though. I always imagined something in the lines of TF2 Heavy with not as high fire rateof their weapon but with more damage and accuracy. Right now, there are issues with terrain. Low walls seem to be almost everywhere and Dark Reapers (with their launcher) seem to struggle both when firing over those and into people hiding behind them. While the shuricannon can't brace. Very vulnerable to cover.
They also need a Armour increase. Fire Dragons, Scorpions and Reapers should have heavier armour than the other classes. Everything has Armour 100 which is fairly arbitrary in grand scheme of things at the moment. If we take the Tabletop game these 3 classes would be equivalent armour of Space Marines but lower Toughness. Not sure how that would replicate over into this game though. I would expect an increase to the base armour value though. I not saying it should be a massive increase but a bit more would be good (25-50pts?).
It felt better than DA, but as others have pointed out: it, yet again, needs work. It felt even more spray-and-pray than the other two heavies, and the wind-up on the launcher becomes a chore, and the huge number of times when the reticle got stuck on some obstacle as I was firing was almost enraging. However, I am glad to report the damage is decent... when you can hit someone. The shuri is the one I felt to be the best for general purpose, but lacked OOMPH and had such a scattered pattern one could mistake it for an odd type of shotty. It was all over the place. Not to mention the kickback being oddly massive. Ah well, WIP and RIP me.
My biggest issue here is the fact we can't brace the Shur-Can, which can make it almost pointless using on some maps. I don't know if that is intended or not since they are more mobile but yeh. You either get picked off or just get bored of trying to find an area to shoot from. The rockets are OK, unfortunately the single fire is prolly the only fairly accurate long range weapon we have right now lol. Looking forward to more weapons. Reaper helmets are imho not that great, I think they need to have more depth (chiseled) in the face area if they kept the simple design. No offense to the artist really, the face looks like a texture instead of a 3D face.
The look of the new model just doesn't work and that is Games Workshop's fault. It was like they took the death jester variant and tried to retro it. Original Dark Reaper didn't need changing: Unfortunately it's my guess that GW were more down with Lore being watered down for gameplay mechanic reasons with this game then they were on the look of present selling models so that is probably why we have the model we have now. In any case I really hope there will be a few cosmetic options for purchase from the Rogue Trader store as I know many will be choosing either this original helmet or the Death Jester mask itself should they add them into the game as (cosmetic) wargear later.
Has anyone read/seen if the devs will be addressing how DR's shoot over cover? If you are in a "High Ground" spot with low cover but not braced, to aim down is near impossible without an explosion at your own feet. I even found with the Shuri-Cannon that it was blasting the wall in front of me. The Brace option isn't very favourable at the moment either. "Run to cover, Brace, wait until the brace is locked in, shoot, become a bolter magnet, try to turn off Brace, bleed out, receive welcoming chain weapon to posterior". I've tried to be a long range DR too but on Harkus: 1. You become very lonely and fodder for Jump Packs. 2. The Reaper Launcher projectile is slow. There has been a number of times where my target is a long way from where I aimed at. Leading the target takes some quick math and a lot of luck. If you pepper the 6 shots in probable areas that your target may be in the next 10 seconds you might have a chance of getting a hit. Then you have to wait for a reload. (I hope the speed of this weapon is upped a bit. Reload, projectile speed and Rate of Fire. Nothing over the top, just something with a bit more fluidity 3. (I believe this is being addressed) The launcher seems quite weak in comparison to other Heavy weapons.
Exarch models have a very similar helmet. So it is not unlikely. Again, Exarchs have access to other weapons - Missile Launcher, Shuriken Cannon, Tempest Launcher.
