dangerous repetitiveness

I think @Zael is a bit hung up on balance and not on what role that weapon/class will play on the battlefield.

The quote you've taken of me literally answers your questions. People aren't going to be running around with said combos unless for some reason those combos can deal with virtually everything in their way.

Just pray to your Gods the Vengeance Launcher isn't going to be in the game.

I think that repetitiveness will be one of the least of our worries in this game, as it seems clear to me that this is going to be one thee most varied MMO Action Shooter ever created, due to these confirmed planned features:

    1-2 Mega Servers.

Rich and diverse Warhammer 40K Universe Lore.

At least 1-4 Massive 16km x 16km Open World Continents packed with Content.

Each Continent has 120+ unique Bases/"Points of interest" to fight over.

    Grand Strategic Warfare.

    1000 Player Battles.

    4+ Playable Asymmetric Factions.

    5+ Sub-Factions.

7+ unique Classes to play as for each Faction.

    At least 1 AI Faction.

    Tyranid Invasions.

Unique Weekly Campaigns and Missions for each Faction, which will alter the course of the war and storyline of Eternal Crusade over time.

    PvP Instanced Matches.

    PvE Co-operative Instanced Matches.

The ability to play as a Carnifex in these PvE Matches.

    Underground PvE Battles.

Large Social Zones for Sparring & Practice.

    Guilds.

Guilds Ship to Ship boarding combat.

Razer Comms which allows you to sound like your Factions warriors.

    Players that Role-play.

    Faction Alliances.

    Regular Official Short Stories.

    Extensive Character and Loadout Customization.

Unique Skill Trees for each Faction.

    Unique Skills for each Sub-Faction.

    A Sidegrade system.

    50% Shooter & 50% Melee orientated combat.

Tactical Strike Force & Squad Based Combat.

    Friendly Fire.

    Jetpacks.

    Warp Powers.

    Brutal Executions.

    Vehicles.

Bases that cosmetically change to reflect the Faction that controls them.

    Day & Night cycles.

    Player Controlled Warlord Councils.

    Free-To-Waaagh! option.

Large Free Expansions every 3 months.

    Passionate & Loyal Community.

Game that is continually evolving and expanding in scope and scale in a massive way over the next 2+ years.

Devs that are receptive to what the Community want and are transparent with their development.

Numerous contradictory and vague statements from the devs, to keep the Community guessing and bickering about what the hell is going on, so that the devs have some form of cheap entertainment while they work.

    Nathans unique sense of humour.

    Fish tank shoes.

    And most importantly Terminators!

I'm sure there's a lot more other features to add to this list. So yeah, this game is going to be far from repetitive 2-3 years from now, if the devs can indeed achieve what they are currently planning. o_O

Like I said before no way are they disclosing anywhere near what the full game is going to be like I humbly believe!

Founder's access is for us to play around and get a feel for combat and a few systems ect... when full game come along I think the pessimists out there will be surprised! I know WoW isn't quite the same as this game but you get patches which expansions will be for this game which can vary from little to lots of added updates. I mean by far this game is not even close to 7 million founders or whatever WoW has, but with time and word of mouth with good systems in place this game could be huge!

Yeh maybe at the start we might have 50vs50 and a bunch of servers, but as the tech becomes available they will merge servers to meet those 100vs100 and so on so forth to accommodate. Even with 50vs50 your guild could come up with plenty of scenarios, RP styled formations or waves for your guys to charge in with. Solo play you could come up with your own ideas! With the traits, class/race trees and weapon loadouts you could go on forever with scenarios and missions to set up if your bored of regular gameplay just to name some!

I just don't want the guys who were expecting openworld immediately on launch to back out and get others to boycott the game cause it wasn't to their specifications straight away...

I'm bearing in mind that with all good mmo's the game can only be improved on from feedback.

Nathan has said in time he really hold onto us getting to more or less miguel' dream and if by 2 years its not there then they have failed and you can quit but try to enjoy it as much as you can till it gets to that. See the game for what it is until its what you dreamt of.

Expansions or updates are supposed to be frequent enough so there will be plenty to play around with when those come out, some not as much as other but still gameplay non the less!

+ if pve goes well then i'm sure that will get a little if not a lot bigger as the years pass!

That would be helpful and even refer to TT where we have day\night battles + changeable weather would force to adjust tactics, ofc nobody would probably want some extremes like tornadoes or sudden volcano eruptions...on the second thought that might be funny too :D.

For me very important element of breaking the repetitiveness will definitely be a good system of weapon upgrades providing they will REALLY make a difference. Being an Iron Warrior (half Slaaneshi actually) perfecting your weapons itself is something that can keep me tied to a game for pretty long.

I wouldn't count too much for armour customization though as most of models in Wh40 setting simply cannot vary too much apart from chaos and orks maybe.

The last but not least as could be expected from me - special and elite classes - this is something many players strive to achieve cos usually playing these is basically more awesome than the bread and butter basic classes and it should be so otherwise they will make no sense. I hope that won't be f***ed up as it's pretty crucial in any kind of games with progression tree.

  6. Okay so one thing. The devs let us down but they are not retarded. 4 factions is a base requirement by almost any standards. Eternal Crusade WILL be a 4 faction game, I'll put my rep on it, because the devs know that if they don't players won't have any faith in their abilities and the game will die. They know they have to deliver on their promises to the filthy xenos or else everything voes to shit. It's the base requirement.

With all due respect Dokta, I think you didn't understand the topic of this thread. :)
  8. I left a brewery today, growler in hand, having drank a sampler, so that's a possibility. But I've also read in several places that this would end up a 2 faction game, a concern I don't share.
  9. I feel BHVR can keep things interesting by having a plethora of hidden aspects of the game, similar to the many hidden quests and hidden connections in Dark Souls 2. Similar to all the unknowns that present and unfold in a 40k novel.

How are those type of hidden aspects of a game applicable to this thread. Hidden unlocks, hidden abilities, hidden weapons, melee stances, special attacks, gear, Mechanicus items(Servo Skulls, Targeting Drones, implants).

  10. There could be something to be said for larger over arching weather conditions that don't so much remove or lock of areas of the zones or areas with additional hazard's (sandstorms, warp randomness and that kind of jig although there could be an argument for routes temporary going down) But more it makes terrain or movement across some areas harsher, that in turn can create kill zones or funnel people into less hazardous routes creating conflict or allow well communicated strike teams to attempt a daring move across open dangerous areas.

Very much the Ebb and flow the fluid and gritty experiences I would expect to see in a 40K firefight
