This is some kind of forced equality bullshit right here. If one side is winning more despite having worse classes, that side is playing better and deserves to win. There's no need for both sides to win evenly, this isn't a freaking soccer game for 5 year-olds where everyone is a winner and gets a meaningless trophy. In the end, ask yourself if forcing things to change for some arbitrary feel-good measure is a good idea for the game, and when you realize it's not, you won't say something like that again.
while I'm sure (at least very hopeful) that the devs have access to better metrics data then they have chosen to show us, I maintain that all data/statistics are open to interpretation so far the pieces of data they have shared do answer some questions, but by no means does it answer all the questions the devs metrics so far shared have been very wide in its scope and basically useless when it comes to answering particular questions for instance : the bolter gets the most kills ... the metrics show this but:- at what range is this weapon dominating what class is achieving this kill data which fire-mode is more effective at what ranges what tactics are being used to achieve this dominance is it head shots or body shots making the bulk of this data whats the average shot count per kill is this kill data from full health targets or previously damaged targets is it counting downs or actual kills oh and not forgetting the elephant in the room what differential in this data is seen when considering the players latencies .... eg: is the bolter still the most deadly weapon for high latency players hells I could go on ... and thats just a series of non-specifc questions on a single weapon, let alone asking all those and more questions in regards to every other enemy class or situation
Suuure, but when you come out of your dreamworld you will realize that that is what will happen. Edit: I see you quoted only a part of what I said. In that context, let me higlight this part: I don't think that is what we want. So I agree, it would be bullshit. But thats why there is a second option.
There is no need to defend "your" faction. I don't want Chaos nerfs, I don't want SM buffs, I couldn't care less about the current balance of the game.
Buffing one faction that nearly mirrors the other is the same as nerfing the other, you're still making one mechanically stronger than the other. The point remains that just because the results favor one faction doesn't mean that there's necessarily anything wrong with mechanics. In competition, one side usually does win more, a 50/50 split in results isn't the only possible outcome of fair mechanics. Now setting aside my opinioms on the playerbases themselves, even though the devs themselves conceded that it could simply mean Chaos is besting Imperials on their own merit, one issue I've been seeing is that right now Space Marines often have lower match pops, intensifying Chaos' current winning streak.
For what? Stagger lock is meaningless in a discussion of if a class is OP or not because it's not a good mechanic to make it so any player is unable to move while they're being attacked.
I've noticed it flip-flopping depending on the time of day and who is winning more. Was playing with a warparty last night, for example. We couldn't get a game in on Loyalist so we all swapped over to Chaos and got in immediately. After two or three matches of obliterating any opposition we suddenly couldn't get in a Chaos game due to the queue. Swap back to Loyalist...instantly get through the queue, another two or three matches of wins over Chaos and the cycle repeated.
Yep the average solo player thats not a warhammer 40k lore junkie or fanatic tends to be a bandwagon jumper. This happens in every game Ive ever played. When one faction is performing well people log over to play it vs grinding it out on their "primary" faction. Unfortunately now way to stop this short of faction locking players and thats not such a great idea lol. Same happens with individual classes being flavor of the month...when they are percieved as OP people will flood that class.
Faction locking is already in-game. It is called character slot, and character slot if faction-bound. When progression system will be implemented and characters wiped jumping factions would require a leveled up character on both(or even three of four) sides. It will make jumping factions completely impossible and punishable. Since we won't have a lot of character slots and it is rather useful to have more characters inside one faction.
