Aye, i have been droning on to Brent since as far back as 2014 (while the Aspirants were still a maybe) that we should have the Force Staff on launch. The Force staff would have a fast attack like any other melee, but the strong attack would basically be a charge up spell (akin to how the Plasma Cannon charges up) that you fire off after the charge is up. Based on the staffs alignment (which god, or Undivided) it would conjure up different powers. Tzeentch would hurl a fireball, Nurgle a giant blob of acidic bile (or a fly swarm at the targeted location) and Slaanesh should perhaps even just hold the strong attack and channel a psychic scream as long as it was held, but it "overheats" if you hold it too much (also a good way to start putting Perils of the Warp back in). The staff would basically have weak damage for swinging but would have more durability then the sword. That way, while you still wont be able to fend off/kill melee attackers nearly as well as you can with a Force Axe/Sword, you will still be able to stall them with a clang/dbash war till allies come and aid you.
If I remember correctly a while back Brent mentioned how Sorcs would not have the option to remove the heal spell. He stated how he wants AS to always be able to heal, he also stated Offensive spells would be more reserved for the Sorcerer class.
I really don't want your power determined based on the weapon you take. It was fine for Last Stand, but I really don't want that here. What they have been doing with Warlock/Sorcerer weapons I think is in the right direction, and when two handed weapons come out it will just add to it. as in the weapon should just enhance your power (charge/recharge) and not be the source of your power. But then again you also have those same appropriate wargear that cost wise you can't add together. So take the master crafted witch blade with the 150 pouch, you can't do it and take a second power to make it worth going for the regen/charge. This is what they need to change if they want to adjust melee vs power strength. Also if Singing Spear is just some crappy melee weapon but has lots of charge/recharge bonuses I won't be to happy with that.
I never said that, you are still free to choose your powers in the power slot. Its just making the Force Staff function uniquely rather then just be "hold right mouse button for a stronger boop on the head with a staff". Making the Force Staffs strong attack be a ranged one compliments the build of a ranged Aspirant, same as the Force Axe/Sword currently compliments the build of a melee Aspirant (which is why you see people playing Sorcerers like quasi-Khorne Berzerkers). Then if you want a ranged build, equip a staff and ranged powers, and if you want a melee build equip axe/sword and close range/PBAoE/nova powers.
I am quite certain I have once managed to Dodge through the Daemonbolt and survive (iframes I believe), but then again, I have also given an enemy a free kill once, as I felt a bit sorry that he didn't get any rewards for using the Daemonbolt
If we apply this logic to Eldar, shouldn't they do some switching? I mean, aren't warlocks the offensive casters of the Eldar while Farseers are much more support-like?
