Daemon Engines

How should Daemon Engines be comandeered?

  1. Remote player control

    7.8%
  2. Manual Player Control (you become the daemon and control it then and there)

    78.4%
  3. AI-controlled

    13.7%
  1. Okay that's a good thing, when I read it the last time it was all about "maybes", I'm still trying to catch all the info I missed

Perhaps there could be areas which, when captured, reward the most requisition points to those who captured the area. You could then go to a Cogitator (Or Ork/Eldar equivilent) and requisition an daemon engine/warmachine of your choice. It'd then send you into the driver's seat of the warmachine requisitioned as it comes out of the foundry, and you play with it until it is destroyed.

I think warmachines coming into play would be a fantastic reason to add anti-vehicle weapons, though I hope they do reasonable damage to the engines (Not so much to only take 3 shots, but not so little that it'll take 15 to 20 shots). In 40k: Space Marine, I could only think "This is so strange, a lascannon when it's infantry only." as well as "This lascannon does no damage to dreadnoughts."

Have you seen how much damage the freaking Killa Kans can take at the end of the Chaos Unleashed Exterminatus? Never before have I been wondering what the hell was going on!

I also think that you might have a point there - introducing daemon engines (and similar war machines for other factions) as a reward for something bigger instead of requisition it like every other vehicle. It would make them more interesting and also offers the opportunity to wreck havoc with it.

I'm going by lore/tabletop mechanics here where it's only 3 hull points (Possibly 2 for Killa Kans, can't remember, I play Chaos), which are taken down easily by a lascannon.

I think a good way of implementing a lascannon would be it has a long reload, where you have to wait for the barrel to cool, then you load in a new battery/wait for it to charge, then fire again. It would allow for the lascannon to be what it should, a 1 shot kill on nearly any infantry, but it has a very slow rate of fire which would make it non-viable to field large amounts, and just keep it as a support weapon. Also, for missile launchers, maybe they could implement a "The more you use it, the different types of ammo you get." Still, just assuming that daemon engines are implemented.

  5. You could maybe post this at some Gameplay Thread, this are some good ideas for Lascannons and Rocketlaunchers
  6. I like the idea of using special bases to spawn the demon engines as long as bases are not required to spawn the factions main battle tank. PS2 had a few bases that had to be capped to use your mbt and that really hurt an already loosing team. As long as the unlocked vehicles are weaker then a fully crewed regularly available vehicle then i'm happy.

Have the confirmed the demons will get there own faction? Seems a bit odd to have them fighting csm but the same goes for IG and LSM.

Well, they said they'd try to implement more factions, so it is assumable that they would add Daemons as their own faction. Also, it isn't strange in the slightest for Daemons to fight CSM. Differing gods, and goals of greater daemons cause fighting within chaos. Chaos isn't a unified faction anymore, they are split warbands each with their own goals (Same with daemons, though they all listen to their gods, they'll fight each other due to differing goals, or just to let the blood flow.)

It was referenced in the first Meet the Devs vid way back on the start of the project.
Personally im fine even if they are just added as units to the Chaos faction, as long as they dont justify not putting as many varied demons as there are classes for the normal factions by the fact that they are an addition to an already existing faction.

  9. To be honest I don't see Chaos Daemons becomming an own faction.
I rather think that they will merge Chaos in general into one Faction because of situational reasons.

Well here it is, where it is stated that both Princedom and Chaos Deamons as a faction is something we will most likely see post launch. But simply to confirm that they actually did say that the daemons will be a faction (search for Chaos Deamons):
