    Gonna put my post from another thread here, as I feel it applies.

    Maybe if they made it so if you shoot the bomb it only does half damage?

    This video is called melta bomb fun and its a squad of 3 or 4 marines running around in a transport. Glitching on top of the vehicles and using meltas and melta bombs on TOP of the vehicle where they cant be removed easily.

    After a while you notice how much xp they get in such a short time. I even made a marine and got the melta. He is now level 3 in one day just from hunting vehicles. It takes one "Overheat" to bring a tank or trukk from full to less than 25% which is maybe 2 or 3 second of continous fire.

    Reduce it's vehicle damage and increase it's infantry effectiveness. You can find a happy balance without it being an over powered skill-less infantry burner or tank buster. Rhinos and trukks suck period. At least the grav tanks can easily pancake a melta or run away before being totally destroyed because their acceleration isn't turtle speed.

    The solution I keep hearing is "just keep driving it around and don't abandon your vehicles". That's good advice but who wants to be the guy who gets shafted on exp because there's no reward for being a driver? I've also seen a multi melta drop a rhino going full speed to 25% as it passed.

    Those people who suggest to keep driving it around usually also suggest XP gains for the driver when people spawn in their vehicle.

    I know i said it before but i believe the problem with the melta isnt the damage, is supposed to hurt, is how easy it is to avoid being killed when using it and that you can start outputting that damage instantly. I think that if using a melta would have a charge sequence like almost any other AT weapon around(smth like 2 seconds or so) and would hold you in place while using it instead of allowing you to move around it would be enough of a nerf to it to make it less of a problem. Ok, if that doesnt work, maybe make it cooldown slower so its not ready to melt smth else for a longer time(2-3-4 seconds extra should do)
  9. So if the meltagun is nerfed to not be as effective at killing vehicles, y'all realize it may as well be taken out of the game right? It got nerfed to shit against infantry. It had its range reduced massively. The only thing it is supposed to be good at is killing vehicles.

    You keep saying it takes 2 to 3 seconds to kill a vehicle, but you aren't factoring the time it takes to get to there. You have to not be seen by anyone while approaching the vehicle, of you do you are probably dead. Sometimes right when you get there one to three people will fucking pop out of the transport because they just respawned, dead again. You get all the way up to the vehicle and it either drives away (shit I wasted my time), or he runs you over (shit I wasted my time and I'm dead).

    For those of you saying you get no xp from driving around, you get xp every time someone kills somebody with the guns on the tank you are driving, you get xp for running people in combat over, and you can ram other vehicles to death, getting you the same xp a melta Tac would killing a tank and its crew. You aren't driving a mobile spawn point. You are driving a weapon of war. Treat it as such.
  10. Ehhh I'm not sure giving XP for spawning off the transports the way to go about it... At that point people will just play space truck drivers simply to keep the vehicle from getting scrapped and that would only give who ever pulled the transport out XP or the person that decided to keep it moving.

    There is barely enough room to drive around most the time as it is, get two or three vehicles doing this and it would be complete madness. How about instead of XP for spawning off transports we make them a defendable objective like the capture points and give XP every so often to anyone close to it every now and then to keep them defending it ?

    I wouldn't even be against giving them a much large portion of XP over defending the capture points for doing this since you only get what... 15 for defending a cap point ? Give people defending transports 25 or 50 and I think that would make a world of difference but nerfing/removing meltas and such isn't the answer.

    Hell, rework tanks so that they aren't completely useless at destroying vehicles and that might even alleviate the suicide melta spam.
