The aim isnt the problem. Plenty of people can use it beyond 15m as an AV vs stationary targets. The problem is that MOVING targets that require a constant stream dmg attack are an issue for orks missing that category. If orks could reload it faster or the missle traveled quicker they could more reliably hit moving targets. Atm the orks have 3 things to stop a moving target: Kannon which takes too long, zzap a weaker version of the las cannon and very immobile, and a manned gun waggon/trukk which is hard to get anyone to cooperate on doing. Tbh the rokkit isnt near as bad as people say it is atm. The problem is lag. Because the blast radius got reduced you cant reliably hit things because they arent actually where they are shown. Also to be completely honest I vies the rokkit as a nedium short range Anti infantry weapon that happens to be so so at AV work atm.
Stationary targets are almost always behind cover which is why the accuracy becomes such an issue. It doesn't deal any damage to vehicles if it hits the box in front of it. There is no point in a weapon that deals poor damage at a minute range to vehicles, I might as well take a Melta Bomb. This is another problem yea. We have no real counter to moving vehicles apart from a suicide Klaw attempt. Against manned Eldar vehicles we are almost powerless (as rarely do people bring a zzap gun). Or maybe a suicide Klaw attempt against certain vehicles. It could be lag, but even in games where I get relatively stable ping and FPS it seems to under perform. I think a big part of the problem is that people know exactly what it is and what it does. Any decent player will immediately start zigzag running towards you while intermittently rolling every 2 seconds or so. You hit them on the roll, you do nothing. You miss and you do nothing. Often the best outcome if both players see each other is that the enemy runs towards the Rokkit user, you probably miss one shot, they try to melee you so you Dbash and stun them then manage a shot that kills the two of you. This is if you're lucky in my experience. Again skilled players will laugh at a Rokkit player.
See here in lies the problem. This is also on track btw. The big shoota and rokkit, when used offensively, are best utilized in a kommando style. No one is gonna zig zag my rokkit when they don't knkw I'm there. No one is gonna cheese my big shoota weakness when I catch them at 10m with no where to go. This is good for the rokkit. This is not good for the big shoota. The big shoota just doesnt perform where it should as an offensive tool like stormbolters and tlasc do. The big shoota needs to lose or have its weaknesses reduced in order to actually be a more useful offensive tool. If it applied more suppression that would work as well. I know I dont fear big shootas on my chaos bolter load out. But seriously stop trying to use the rokkit as a front line gun. Get above em or behind em!
Good points with regards the intended use of the weapon in game. I never thought about the Big Shoota like that, I always treated it as a kind of defence weapon if I'm honest. If I'm on attack, you all know me, I'm the one Ork running around like a lemon as a Klaw Slugga boy lol. Perpetually sad face. No doubt if you get the jump on someone the Rokkit can be amazing. But even then I find it unreliable, and once you've fired that first Rokkit the game is up, they know exactly where you are and you can bet your bottom dollar they're going to target you dead. I agree it's good for the Rokkit to work as a surprise tool, I suppose it is intended to be used primarily for defence with tank hunting so that makes sense. Not always possible to get behind or above someone with it though. And if you spend all that time and the shot whiffs, well, I'm not a happy bunny.
@RageScreama @Gazrick From above is the only reliable way to take down eldar vehicles because of how easy it is for one to hop in the drivers seat then run you over. And don't deny it, Knife ears. How often do you even bother to use the guns to kill people on the ground using AV, when running them over is far, far easier and they're more often than not out in the open with nothing to hide behind. I've been in Zadek games where after having A capped, the sneaky zogs just mowed down tha boyz runnin' fer B! Too scared of fightin' da boyz propa. COS WE'Z DA ORKS AN' WE'Z DA BEST!
I also use the big shoota for defence, or attack when nobody in my squad has nothing with supression on. Even the 22 damage per shot is fairly balanced, given it's relatively accurate, comes with suppression and has high pen. Though, one or two armor upgrades and it's damage is migitated and the ROF doesn't help at all. Against Vets, the Shoota's the better option given the damage on it. The big shoota is also really good against eldar for the most part.
I hope it's either @DJPenguin or @Tirrik, I wouldn't trust any other content creator atm to talk about balance without bias.
Not sure how uploading videos on YouTube or Twitch makes your opinion any more valid than those who don't....
