Character customization regarding appearance is part of the plan yes. For stats too and some of the stats accessories will have a visual change on your character. Personally I want bionics on all my characters (like this ork. and a limb made of wraithbone for Eldar) plus battle damage armor pieces.

One thing that is possibly unique to orks would be tattoos or warpaint being not just on their heads but other parts of their body because they can have armor designs that expose more skin.

1. (Team question) How will armor customization work (comsetic and not cosmetic)? Will armor have someting similar to weapon modules or will customization come only from traits and unlock? Will all races have the same methods or will different races have different mechanics? If it isnt something you currently thought about, what games are you looking into for inspiration for the said armor system?

BRENT ELLISON: Accessories are basically the armour mods, which you earn through the progression tree. They modify your stats or other effects, but they generally are applied on top of the armour, visually. Examples include bionic eyes, pendants, purity seals, etc. -snip-

BRENT ELLISON: Helmet-less characters are still planned but won’t be present for the initial Founder Access.

4. How many individual pieces of armour constitute a full suit and how many points on each piece might be customisable? if armour is for example 5 pieces ....chest, helm, greaves, gloves, backpack then how many potential types of customisation could be applied to any single piece, and at what other points on a character model could customisation occur? ie: cloaks, tabards, trinkets/trophies, belt accesories etc

BRENT ELLISON: At the moment the character is broken into as many tiny pieces as you can imagine: rims, backback balls, shins, kneepads, etc. This is to facilitate any customizations, rank visualizations and allegiances we want to in the future. As for the player-facing customization, however, we haven’t finalized this yet. It shouldn’t be surprising at all (shoulders, backpack, etc), we just haven’t done the final checkoff yet. Note that for the most part the bits and bobs outside of the armour (trophies, belt accessories, iron halos) are actually being treated as accessories that you earn through progression and have stats or other effects associated with them.

A: Yes, you get more customizations. There are also plans to have battle marks on the armor.

3. Are there any updates to the extent of what Eternal Crusade's version of a 'player studio' might entail? I.e. things that a player could submit for inclusion into the game such as helmets, animations, 3D models, etc.

NATHAN: Three major things that are blocking that right now, which is our own focus on bringing Founder’s Access, that anything that goes in requires our approval as well as Games Workshop, and this is very much a post-launch feature. We still would like to see this in some form, it’s proven great when executed well in other games. I would first and foremost see this beginning with decals, “guild” markings and other such decorations.

Also I should have mentioned this before, the Devs are aware of and keeping an eye on this thread: Rogue Trader / Founder Store Wishlist - where crusaders can post ideas for what they'd like customization wise.

15. (team question) While im assuming the chances of requesting a store item and getting it made are really small, to whom should we address these requests in hopes we might get lucky and the artists end up making that cosmetic request a reality?
