Crosshairs (fix Them)

Discussion in 'Ask the Team' started by Brother Delpheus, Nov 24, 2013.

  1. I agree with almost everything you guys have said, I believe the traditional + cross-hair is effective with a bit of recoil. But think about it, SM and CSM would be very stable shooting wise but their weapons aren't always the most accurate. Ork I'm not going to bother with because their so inaccurate and Eldar are strong, agile, experienced and have extremely efficient weapons, so I highly doubt they would have recoil at all.

In my opinion, each race should have a different base accuracy Ork being the worst then SM and CSM then Eldar, but each, faction, or unit type would have their own +, - to accuracy, meaning snipers from the 'sniper world' would have pin point accuracy and the only scatter would be their hands -mouse, remote etc. - meaning if you take the time to stop aim, and fire you would hit, whereas if you just started spraying however I doubt the cross-hair would even reach someone.

Every videogame requires practice. If you cannot aim correctly with this commonly used 3rd person shooter reticle, you simply need more practice.

This is more of an issue of " personal preference " Than a gameplay issue.

Thank you for clarifying. I'm looking forward to the Bolter types we will have access to. Will Orks be able to look weapons from the dead of the other classes? Orks are known to do this in the fiction? This would be another huge equalizer for free-to-play users.
  4. I agree that each race should have their own feel, I neglected that point.
However, I disagree that this is a personal preferance matter. The circle system is flawed and although commonly used makes for a poor shooting experiance. You cannot practice with the circles because it is more luck than skill with them being so large and wild. It is more like rolling dice or praying.
  5. well then stand still, crouch and zoom in to have higher chance to hit^^

Yes, it is RNG. That's the whole point of it. I realize you would like to think every soldier is immaculate when hip firing weapons with massive recoil, but they aren't, and this is how they are represented.

    I agree

This is something I can agree with, I hate how in some games you'll have your actual crosshairs (say an iron sight or the crosshairs of a scope) on a target or specific spot, fire, and for some reason your bullets are going other places than where your crosshairs are. That's both unrealistic and annoying.

Unless your elite supersoldier's crippling Achilles heel in the end is that he has no idea how to properly and securely mount optics on his weapon so they're not bouncing around while he shoots.

I'd prefer to have control over exactly where my shots are landing rather than auto-aim + random variables. Of course, their would be an inherent increase in recoil when firing offhand or from the hip, as well as sustained fire from heavy weapons, simply for balancing purposes, which is also fairly realistic.

So, it's more of a question of do we want skill-based shooting or artificially adjusted shooting to level the playing field?

what about no crosshair? or tiny laser dot? I really like games without crosshairs unless you take aim then the crosshair appears.

    No crosshair, I support this.
Well, but then we'd need some kind of laser dot, as you said, and zooming. But one thing that comes in my mind is that Space Marines actually have some kind of crosshair in their HUD.
