3 stolen WoW accounts, how they have butchered mainstream rts, how their games cause other franchises to fail because they can't compete with an established mega franchise (grats to them for succeding but they kinda screw inovation), their customer service in general, I don't like how they handled the vanilla wow server deal, THEY STOLE WARHAMMER (both 40k and fantasy), they are going to ruin expectations on arena shooters, I'm sure there is more.

They make well made stuff with cool graphics no doubt but they tend to forget games are about the players, and about enjoyment. Look what WoW did to Mmorpg in more recent times. Pretty disappointed with SC2 also. They also helped make death by microtransaction more popular. They made a pretty good amount of money from the diablo 3 auction house which seems dirty to me.

They just feel evil now. Started good and just turned evil...I blame chaos. Clearly you had something to do with this ruinous powers!!!

NO! YOU FOUND MY SECRET! THIS CANNOT BE!

Sucks to hear that, man. I know how lame it can be to have an account stolen (Three, no less. Geez), especially when time and money were invested in it.

But, I would like to point out that Warhammer/40k "stole" a lot of things from other sources as well, namely Dune and Starship Troopers (the novels, not the movie).

They weren't actively hired by those examples though. Blizzard was hired to make a warhammer game, quit before finishing, and took all they developed with them to make warcraft.

My biggest bitch against Blizzard is how they can make an excellent product (D2, SC & SC2, WC 1&2&3 (awesome lore) and WoW prior to BC). Take said product and repackage it over the course of decades with the sole purpose of squeezing more dollars out of an originally fantastic idea. What drew most people to love WoW was the sense of exploration and camaraderie, finding yet to be released zones, 3 day alterac valley matches, 40 man raids. Loot was earned not ground for! You could ruin peoples day by dickin around Orgimmar, zeppelins or boats before they brought in those bullshit guards! After BC I found that WoW seemed to dictate a very linear path for players.

This movie is just another shameless marketing ploy by Blizzard, riding their past success. Hopefully people will see through their bullshit and realize that they haven't offered anything tangibly different or new in a few years.

Learnings for Behavior, keep the players interested, intrigued, free (metaphorically) and entertained. Truly great games do all four.

    no this is never happened.
they decided to create their own license from the start from not be limited by GW restricion and be free: they worked in the past for DC comics (superman videogame) and after than experience they decided to never work again with licenses.

"[Blizzard co-founder] Allen Adham hoped to obtain a license to the Warhammer universe to try to increase sales by brand recognition", Wyatt says. "Warhammer was a huge inspiration for the art-style of Warcraft, but a combination of factors, including a lack of traction on business terms and a fervent desire on the part of virtually everyone else on the development team (myself included) to control our own universe nixed any potential for a deal. We had already had terrible experiences working with DC Comics on "Death and Return of Superman" and "Justice League Task Force", and wanted no similar issues for our new game."
  6. Getting the topic back on track - Yes, take the statements of critics en mass with a grain of salt. The thing about reviewers is that they're there to take the bullet for those who like their opinion on things. You should find a few to follow for various reasons. Some who you know will be harsh but critical of any work, some who are ardent fans, and perhaps some who even directly oppose your views. From seeing how they react, their points and criticisms, it tends to be easy to pick out whether or not a film is a true disaster or not, or an underrated gem. To cite a video game example, I tend to look into the reviews of Caddicarus, Jim Sterling and Totalbiscuit among others. The three rarely agree on any single point, but between them they build up a solid image and presentation of a work.

As for the Warcraft film itself though, personally i'm wondering what in the hell the critics were smoking when they brought down the hammer on this. We are in an unfortunate society where too many critics will buy into certain hype, overlook certain flaws and happily shill something to high heaven, but then crap on a similar work for seemingly no reason. So many paid reviewers for magazines seem to be treating this as the Antichrist of fantasy films, but speaking as someone who is merely a casual fan of the genre, it's definitely not that bad. Not great for sure, but entertaining in its own right.

Having the ''Lion of Azeroth" being seduced by a half-breed of sorts is NOT entertaining.

  8. Well fair enough, I am speaking as someone who has vague memories of Warcraft III and little else as the setting goes. The more devoted fans such as yourself probably have far more complaints to level at the film.

I think game reviews are even worse tbh. When I read a review for something like an assassins creed game that gives it a 9 out of 10 with all this praise for story, setting, and gameplay I think this should be fun. Then I play the game....and it isn't fun. Then they procede to crap on a third party developers game because it doesnt have the bestest graphics or over the top action , and I play that game...and absolutely love it. I start to wonder if these guys are all in the pockets of AAA game design companies.

At one point someone in PC gamer said fallout4 was a must play game. One of the best fallout games made. But most fallout fans don't like it going as far as calling it the worst fallout game. Its an ok shooter but just terrible as a fallout game. SEGWAY and that is gonna be the problem with the warcraft movie. It seems like an ok movie for a movie, but a terrible movie if it was supposed to represent one of the largest MMORPG made.

Also I hate blizzard dunno if I mentioned that before :p
  10. Most likely, since negative/honest reviews are often met with blacklisting of future titles and thus, the source of their revenue.

On topic, is the movie set before, during or after the events of any of the games? Reading the pre-release info sounded like it was set before the first game.
