Actually that's not a problem for me with the current execution animations. It was with their initial iterations, but when they changed the animations to speed them up, the changes made them much less gruesome. They don't bother me, even when I'm the one who gets executed. Also, that was, what, like two or three years ago that I complained about that? You still remember that after all this time?
Overwatch has stuns all over the place. Even Reinhardt's ultimate is a good 3-4 second stun. And I'd say the developer streams on Fridays are pretty good for learning what's in the upcoming builds.
And also one of many. I'd say the games aren't comparable at all and it's a fairly poor example of a game to point to for melee combat.
