Hello, some of you may remember me, some may not. I was very enthusiastic about this game early on, then lost interest when the development changed direction. I recently discovered it went free to play and decided to check it out. As I thoroughly enjoy the game (for the most part) I have decided to financially back the game and I will continue to do so. A couple things I have noticed. No one was prepared for free to play. From the servers, on down to the player base. everyone seemed caught off guard and it is pretty apparent. I have no advice for the server situation, best of luck there. I do, however, have a couple things I would like to share with the 'veteran' and new players alike. The results of free to play means you are going to have to deal with people that have no idea how this particular game runs. You can either start off by trying to build a cohesive team, or you can throw it in the trash with negative attitudes and behavior. New players as well, should do your part to show up to your first battle with the mindset that this is a game based on teamwork, know how to use the map, and be prepared to listen to your squad leader. Just doing those two things will help immensely. No one can read minds. If you are a SL you should use the ping system, backed up with typed commands (or voice if you have a server, even better) to ensure your orders are being at least received. There is a lot of detail on these maps and I admit, a lot of the better ways of doing things are lost on me at this point. I have been doing a lot of watching and trying to learn, but there are precious few who will take the time to do more than berate and be condescending. So please, educate there are those out there that want to learn, and in the end will help out. I mean this in the spirit of teamwork and I hope it is received well, this is a good game and I would love to see it get better. Don't squander this opportunity to create a large healthy player base.
Its been discussed over and over again this month, about F2P, about how veterans feel, about newb waves and how we should act I can assure you that most of vets knows whats going on and how important new players are to EC. So sleep tight, we will care those newbs with love! And some bolter fire..
Nah man I can't stand it. I play solo I have no friends that play or want to play and I don't play in a guild as my game doesn't work when Discord is running and everyone seems to use discord these days so I am a Solo player. EVERY single game I play I am thrown in with new F2P players and none of them know ho wto play, from using the Q button to following orders. The amount of TK's I suffer has increased simply because of this one factor and all to get the kill. It's pathetic playing alongside what feels like the recklessly dumb. I leave the match simply because I am tired trying to get people to play does not return any results. If anything Behaviour need to do something to educate the masses of new players. There should be a New player video that they are forced to watch, they should not be allowed to be SL and any SL in place should be promoted every 5 seconds to use the Q button to mark a location or face being kicked from the game. Yes it is harsh but if you are not willing to play as a SL then you shouldn't be playing as a SL and if you have that mind set then being forced out of the game you are playing with a nice message stating why you were removed from the game should smarten their ideas up. So very tired of playing with clueless people.
+1 The matchmaking is total crap they throw inexperienced players in against high ranking Guild groups only to beat them down hard. It's bad enough for a new player as it is with the load-outs system the way it is currently anyway. There is no benefit playing with the basic load-out against a player that has +armour +health +weapon benefits over them. Player skill aside there is a definite advantage for Vets over new players and the matchmaking does not help.
Guild groups? I played like 20 matches already today and yesterday and havent met any guild group bigger than 3-4 people. So its not an issue. Even if they face a guild by a miracle, the fight ends in minutes and they can go to queue again. So believe me, its guild stomp its not the biggest issue now.
I know I've been trying to go to the garrison every so often to help answer question and help those who want help and can understand me. There's a lot of things that need clarity, esp dbash, how melee works in number world, pinging, etc.its nice to try to help give people a more rounded exposure and understanding so they can at least fight back a little.
When I first came to play Space Marine multiplayer, 3 years ago, and was lvl 1 newb, no one cared to spare me u know. There were grizzled veterans playing for years already and I had to learn it the hard way - so what, I did that because I liked the game. When you come to wow or swtor pvp you get various skill or gear players against you - so what? If you like the concept of game, you stay and learn because you understand that after a few days you will get better. What I mean - if a person likes the thing he sees and feels in a garrison, he will play regardless of some accidental guild stomp or losing lots of shoot outs in real time match. If a person lags, has latency issues or just dont like how character moves, shoots, does melee - nothing will stop him from leaving. Dont forget, that some people use heads to think, not butts. I mean, its obvious you wount be the king of the hill the first days of playing.
"I have decided to financially back the game and I will continue to do so" The Emperor's finest know no budget ya twinkie. You have failed your scout test, no genetic enhancements for you brother. Give your fingers a rest and start working out those hips.
Already experienced one clan-stacked game today and 3 games yesterday during the few moments I got to play EC. Seems the servers cannot handle any population outside the loyalist players.
