Perhaps sharing an ale while up in orbit, amongst your Brothers in Arms, for purely social reasons. If there's a guy or gal that's in charge of doing emotes, I don't see why you would exclude /ale or something similar. As far as consumables that boost health or buff stats, I certainly hope we don't see anything like that in game. Leave the buffing to the players, via group buffs from Chaplains, Chapter Masters, Squad Leaders, SF leaders, ect.
I could imagine combat drugs and similar stuff especially for Slaaneshi CSMs, while SMs could get holy ointments to please the machine spirits of their guns (thereby increasing accuracy). Just don't let this stuff come up in the Rogue Trader, make it something you trade in for RP.
Back to the seriousness. I guess heavy weapons units would drop ammo, or general tactical infantry, so that they help out the heavies and others, healing units would drop health packs, have no idea what assaults would drop. And with limited use of course.
And they cannot get drunk as their Preomnor (IIRC) filters alcohols like poisons and toxines. Sadly. Conclusion: Food and alcohol are useless, cigars and bottles/flask can be cosmetics. I think in the first Twitch Live stream they talked about medipacks, but I can't remember if medipack or ammo drops are confirmed or not. Assaults will just drop their whole body from high in the sky, ain't that enough?..
ooOOOOo I def support cigars for orks, being able to follow the foul smell of the cigars to the foul greenskins seems quite fitting. Though I think if an ork player buys the cigar it shouldnt be consumed? Unless maybe it has some kind of bonus attached outside of its visual aesthetic.
