Maybe the squad leader position should be empty until someone voluntarily chooses to fill it

From my experience it's as follows. You cannot ping an enemy point from the respawn creen, only in-game. You can ping a friendly point from either. You cannot put a ping down that is too close to a squad leader ping but not actually on the squad leaders ping.

Some classes don't get this. I'm guilty of not realizing I'm leader on my Warlock/Hawk/Rokkit/Loota.

how to you nominate squad leader....... I'd nominate myself if possible because all those scrubs who ignore giving orders

Actually, that's free XP for everyone else in the squad. In my experience you don't get squad XP for following orders you set yourself, even if there are people following it around you.

I do like the idea of having the leader position empty by default, and being like a first-come-first-serve volunteer position.

it's not covered in the tutorial at all, as silly as it sounds tell them how to squad lead and hopefully they will!

I'm not really looking at my squad list or toon. I'm 20ft off planning my advance. And then that awkward moment when I look over and I'm like, "How long has that massive banner been on my back? Well shite" and then I either pass it off to someone else because I'm tankhunting or I buckle down on capping/support to lead my squad to victory (results may vary).

Squad leaders definitely get bonuses.

Really frustrating to get a squad leader who doesn't lead. I've started making a new squad on fresh matches if there is only Alpha and Beta already created.

Once in Charlie I will type out, 'xxx buff from banner and locations marked in charlie squad', people who are looking for a decent leader normally join straight away.

I think the XP bonus is fine, after all what is it really giving, vets dont really need it, new players dont get it as they dont mark so it only really aids mid range players get to the end so no big deal really.

It's good to see tactics rewarded and a always great to get a high score at the end of the match.
