I grow tired of the fact that I will constantly face a guild as a pug. And before the HILARIOUS git gud and git guild comments start to flow in hear me out. Why not make the competition mode more user friendly? We have several new continents on the map, and just how one continent is dedicated to tyranids dedicate a continent to competitions. Give them a join now button (maybe even two, one for smaller guilds up to 15 and another for larger guilds looking for 30v30) and let them see guilds waiting for an enemy to fight. Give them a button to create their own match and wait for an enemy to show up, maybe even a system where guilds can challenge each other from the guild menu! Guilds stomp pugs 90% of the time, and thats not fun for the pugs who can't do anything or the guilds who have way too easy a fight. If you made the Competition mode not reliant on the developers setting up a match I'm certain you would see more people using it and more guilds going Guild Vs Guild rather than guilds vs pugs. As a last mention, I'm not asking Guilds be blocked from battle now, just that guilds be given the option to face more challenging foes of their own accord.
If they don't like it I don't think they'll be playing matches upon matches with the same results for hours every so often like they always do.
Didn't even read the post did ya? The point of this thread isn't to add a competition mode, it's to break the competition mode away from requiring devs to set it up and making it more user friendly.
Allowing people to set up their own Guild vs Guild matches, without needing the devs to do it for them, should definitely be a thing.+1
I'd vote for such a feature. I would like it to be a totally optional part of queuing though. Give groups the option to choose to clan battle. Priivate lobbies could also be an option so long as there is a way to post a challenge flag on the world map.
Anvil its a good idea but by its nature there is an inherent difficulty. What if on one faction you have a 4 man guild team which queues together with another different 6 man guild team. Then they are matched with an enemy 15 man guild team. Without non guild players to make up the numbers either the match will be badly imbalanced or the queue will go on for too long.
Dust514 had something like this, called Planetary Conquest; guilds would fight over territory they'd then control, which would let them generate resources. Other guilds could stage an attack to try and take the territory.
Competition mode is not going to be as good as people think it will be. There are reasons why but I'm not going to say why just yet. I kinda want the first GvG game to happen before I do.
