Are there any plans to implement combi-weapons into the game? I was thinking combi-plasma, melta, flamer, or other underslung attatchments to guns, at least for the CSM an SM factions? I realize that the Space Marines factions have lots of stuff already but I was curious to know if the team was looking into it. It's probably a stretch but how about some good o'l 30k tech as well? Combi-autocannon anyone?
You need to look at the rogue trader store. (player-> rogue trader store). Ork items, Spare Keys Kombi Shoota. A shoota with a spare rocket in the front, for those close and intimate moments with a beakie boy, or a METAL BAWKSES?! moment. So yes, combi-weapons are definitely planned; flamers probably not at release however.
Awesome! Hopefully they'll add plenty of variety. It would be cool if they stuck to the TT rules and only allowed one shot on the attatchment, or very limited ammo on them since they are a one-off backup weapon. At least that's how they seem to work in TT.
I would hope more for the limited ammo. One shot on the tabletop makes sense since there isn't an ammo capacity on anything. You have unlimited shooting potential otherwise with any other weapon. Or, because of the ammunition stores for the combi part of the weapon it reduces the overall ammo cap for the boltgun. A tit for tat kind of scenario. For example. You have 150rnds of bolter ammo and then you give it a combi-plasma. Now, it's got 75rnds total but you also have 25rnds of plasma ammo as well. So, you lose out on the longevity of the weapon's usefulness. However, you gain the perks of having both the bolter and the plasmagun.
Yeah that sounds a lot more balanced. Though the ammo cap for the combi-attatchment should be very limited and hopefully will vary depending on the actual attatchment. Even in the fluff books I've seen the combi part doesn't last much in a firefight. I do agree it should lower your ammo count on the main gun, wouldn't be surprised if that's how it actually worked.
Agreed. I know that from what I've understood about the weapon customization that's been explained that certain aspects like this will undoubtedly change how a weapon performs. So, you can probably bet on a lower overall capacity for ammo when dealing with stuff like combi-weapons or special ammo types. I bought the Sternguard Bolter off the RT and part of it's description (while vague) is that it can have it's ammo type switched at will but suffers from lower overall ammo capacity do to the magazine having to carry various types of ammo. The one thing that I can confirm about customization is that the devs have stated point-blank that nothing in the RT shops is exclusive beyond the cosmetics. So, for example, the Sternguard Bolter could be made by anyone who has the proper upgrades available but it will not look identical to the RT Sternguard Bolter. So, I am excited to see how it all plays out going forward. Especially when customization is finally introduced.
Wow that actually sounds pretty cool! That's awesome we'll be able to MAKE the weapons that are on the shop, so no pay wall premiums so to speak. I hadn't even though about ammo types either. Man this game is shaping up to be so cool. The more I hear the more I just can't wait to play.
Well, it makes sense for balance. Otherwise the RT turns it into a P2W crisis. Since some of the items on there may very well turn out to be extremely good. Being forced to buy that item, with real money, in order to use it is a bad business model imo. It will undoubtedly hurt your credibility to a lot of players. So, giving us the ability to out right buy it with some fancy skin as opposed to building it without one is cool. That way no one is getting screwed out of the option based on their personal cash flow. Some will just have fancier looking versions of a physically identical item.
I want Combi-Weapons, but I think they secondary weapon should be like the underslung Grenade Launchers on Assault Rifles in modern combat games. IE, slow firing, slow reloading, and with limits on the amount of ammo you can carry. That would force you to play tactically with it.
That's exactly what I would expect as well, combi-weapons are really just a gun with another gun strapped to it hahaha.
