I've been having a lot of trouble playing for a while now. I'm red/green colorblind, can't see red at all, and normally see things in terms of brightness and about 6 colors. When fighting, I can almost never tell if someone is on my team or is hostile because the character models are mostly all dark, and some randomly have a small green triangle that is hard for me to follow over their heads. If a friendly and a hostile are fighting, it's a total gamble to assist them or not, and if one falls and the other comes towards me, half the time I don't know if it's going to attack until they do. This also leads to problems with finding my way around the maps. If there are people defending a point (or attacking it), I generally can't see its letter because of the icons in the way. Opening the map to find myself usually results in about 4-5 seconds of running around and looking for which arrow syncs up with my movements. I've turned off post-processing because that made everything an even-worse, muddy smear on my screen that was impossible to see through. Even so, there are many areas that have either severe darkness or blinding lights. I'm aware the game is in development and the buggy lights are likely to be fixed. Something that I'd like to ask to be implemented is the ability to set our own colors for the various icons, markers, and outlines, as well as the ability to see players in terms of "friend or foe" colors rather than their chapter colors. Currently it's very frustrating to play, but I very much want to be able to play and see what I'm doing so I can improve and be a credit to my team.
I hope you get support soon, Battle Brother. I have seen pretty neat colorblind settings in games in the past, and I hope that by EC's release, they will have an option to help you.
Oh by the Dark Gods if I had a bolter round for every time I've had this problem in game I'd never run out of ammo...I cannot tell you how many times I've snap shot a teammate because, to my eyes, they looked like the enemy (Usually all bloodied up from taking fire) and I couldn't see the friendly icon over their head right away. Feels really awkward to apologize for to...
Personally I'd liked some IFF in our helmets that marks all friendlies in sight green... like in Vermintide or something. *shrug* But yeah, colorblind mode should be a must nowadays.
Heh, i cant see green color (its all more like shades or red and gray) and for me everyone is an enemy so we are baisically on the different sides of same coin. I learned to rely on my tactical sense and general direction my teammates are shooting, and never going solo, to mitigate the problem with friend or foe resolution...
I'm also colourblind, so much so that I escaped having my uncle's grey-scale colourblindness by pure chance. As such I have a huge problem playing stuff like this, mostly because of one main thing: Game devs constantly pick green and red as opposing colours. First off, don't use red in a dark palette game. It blends right into the background. I'm fine with bright green for allies and such, as it sticks out in this palette, but you need to pick another colour to denote enemies. NOT YELLOW. It looks exactly the same as bright green. But blue for instance would work, because it's radically different from green, and it sticks out in the palette.
