Ships do need fighter screens after all. Not to mention once the Imperial Guard has boots on the ground, the Imperial Navy tends to cease all orbital bombardments. Instead the Imperial Navy supports through supplies and a mixture of fighter/bomber/support squadrons that have been moved to the planet below. Just in case the situation in orbit deteriorates, a healthy dose of Thunderbolts or Marauder Bombers are a suitable replacement. Not to mention the Thunderbolts are the coolest fighter in the Imperium. Yes. I read Double Eagle. It is one of my favorite 40k books, while being all about a Thunderbolt squadron fighting against the Archenemy of Man. Written by the excellent Dan Abnett.

@Uriel1339 or anyone else....I have done some searching and revising as to my characters history, as well as the ship's history, in which he/it was a part of the Doom Legion's chapter (Ultramarines) but due to a dispute was able to break free from their fleet to await reassignment...now the question crossed my mind, do chapters put their chapter symbols on the ship?
