I was wondering something about the ships, How do void ships have range with most of there weapons, Don't projectiles in space just keep going after being shot?
So range is the range they can realistically have targeting to account for the movement of an enemy ships evasion protocols. It is limited based on how long it would take to get telemetry from torpedoes and the like. Reading Honor Harrington series will explain space combat in semi realistic terms really well.
This is a key point most people overlook in that without gravity or inertia, with a projectile that has a rocket attached to it, theoretically it would only keep accelerating and never slow down until it hits something BUT everything in the void has a gravity well. Large space vessels have their own gravity fields and larger celestial bodies have their own overarching gravity wells so when it comes down to it, they add maximum and minimum ranges. Another thing people don't realize is that laser based weaponry, which is based on light moves at the speed of light which makes it the fastest weapon in space to a certain distance (theoretically a rocket propelled missile could go faster than the speed of light after a certain distance but you know, it's very very unlikely the target is THAT far away). Most naval engagements in space are also fought at thousands of kilometers away compared to naval battles on a planet and their definition of knife fight is within a few hundred. Boarding is at under 100 kilometers so it's a lot harder for people to grasp void warfare. If you really want to hurt your head, remember that in the void, you have a full 360 degree battlefield in which there is no up or down, everyone and their mother is at all these weird angles that if you aren't used to it, you will become disoriented. Try using a sniper rifle during a roller coaster that constantly dips and turns every second, that's about as close as you can get to that example.
So we have our work cut out for us for space battles, especially since our ships are built for speed mostly. A battlecusier is a powerful ship but it looks like we will be relying on Small space craft and ship to ship assaults. I know I am going to make commodore more of an aggressive kind of commander but it looks like @EvicusDasan1 is going to be the star of this drama.
Your the only Wing Commander and we have a Ad Mech Crusier/Carrier thing so extra small craft, a Tempest Frigate, i.e. Extra Assault and small craft, a Firestorm (No small craft but a lance battery), and a Mercury Class Battlecruiser so basic load of small craft. Unless I missed something? And @Uriel1339 Does the Admech cruiser come with escorts?
As far as I know, it does not. Due to the fact the Ad Mech only has just enough presence to be independent but not dominate.
