lol Swooping Hawks being called OP, lol don't say that people droping the OP bomb on Fire pike when compared to Two plasma rifles or two Missile pod on a XV8, that single OP bomb is going to roll into a Cluster munition.

Don't forget a Fire Axe, or at least a power weapon. The illegitimate child of Fuegan and Baharroth.

I understand your love for your Tau, but you can't compare your suit with someone that can land anywhere on the board and put large holes into anything.

Really? Cant compare? XV8 can deep strike and all can come equipped with 2 fusion blasters, Plasma rifles or missile pods, sounds to me like I can drop any were on the board and put BIGGER holes in things then Eldar swooping hawks,

    BUT lets compare

    VX8- two fusion/plasma rifles/missile pods: 52 points(all the same), fusion 18" 8,1 melta or plasma 24" 6,2 rapid or missile 36"7,4 assault 2
skills (that compare) pretty much move 6" shoot then move 2D6 in the assault, potential for 18" move.

Swooping hawk-: 16 points, haywire, plasma, grenade pack and lazblaster 24" 3,5 assault 3
Skills (that compare) remove from table during movement phase, enter reserves, during next movement phase come back, potential for table move but looses a firing phase.

IF a swooping hawk is considered OP then a XV8 will be OOOPPP as there roughly 3x more powerfull, some trait rules will have to change I can only go on what has been said, that swooping hawks will have a slow but more controllable "flight" were as orks just ignite there Rokkit pack and go. Space marines and Tau will almost certainly have similar jump systems but Tau will/should not have hammer of wrath (or its equivalent upon landing from jet pack move)

I'm not fighting I'm just clarifying my original statement maybe I was unclear, oh and as a fast attack option and might be closer to compare is Vespid Stingwings with there fleet+jump infantry(w/hit an run clearly Tau don't need more melee allies:rolleyes:) so faster then Swooping hawks NO but a lot faster then almost all other infantry units and  can still put some big holes in space marines

"Jots down some notes of shiny gear to loot" YOU'Z PONCY ELDAR GITS WOTS GUNNA GIVE ME BOYZ LOTS OF SHINIES TA LOOT! AND ALL DAT FANCY DAKKA!!!! I'Z WANNA TRY IT!!
  5. Dragonkindred Dragonkindred Arkhona Vanguard

I have no problem with you clarifiying. :) I need to as well.
At the time the conversation had moved to the Autarch. The Autarch can take weapons and equipment from any of the shrines. A normal Swooping Hawk is no match for your VX8, but the Autarch is a whole different matter. A Fire Pike on one of them would bring about cries of OP if it also had wings.

Question: Can your XV8 "sky jump"? ie leave the board and re-deploy to another area of the board next turn.

Not to be rude but the whole Tau v Eldar thing "my TT rules are better than yours" thing is probably not as intresting as what class/units do you think Tau should have in EC (when they get in).
  7. Zavalus Zavalus Well-Known Member

Not to be rude, but this thread neither the place to discuss the TT rules, nor to talk about Tau. The 'General Discussion' and 'Table Top' sections cover those topics.

So in a thread entitled "Classes info" you don't think its appropriate to explore the potential roles and classes of another specialist army that has been tipped for inclusion in EC? Given that any discussion on classes would obviously reflect on how the Eldars Aspect warriors can be expected to behave.
What shall we talk about then? The swathes of information that we have on anything non mehrine? The awesome models of all the Eldar we get shown every week? Or shall we explore that fabulous phrase "when their ready"
Its all largely irrelevant anyway because Asheru will delete your posts and lock the thread anyhow.

I think that in the thread entitled "Classes Info". that is posted in the Eldar sub-forum, we should focus on discussing Eldar classes. Otherwise, like I said, the 'General Discussion' section is better suited as it brings into discussion people from other factions.

As for your sarcasm, I think it's well placed. Believe me, I am as frustrated as you because of the lack of any info about the Eldar. Still, it's not a reason to turn the Eldar forum sub-section into a chaotic babble about anything at all. Bear in mind, that this makes it a lot harder for new forum members to find the information they are looking for.

The original derailment started with me stating that swooping hawks are not OP, and if they get called that then factions and units like the XV8 would also be called OP and I don't want that XD.

As a class discussion, comparing units with known information is at the vary least, valid even if its in the Eldar sub forum of class discussion and as long as I'm comparing Tau units to Eldar the closest race that will play a lot like Tau in the FPS in terms of tactics and unit flexibility (or at least should) I don't see what the issue is?
