Yes, there is a lot of rolling around to avoid grenades, but I was talking about the damage level of grenades when they hit. Granted, we will need to consider how well people can avoid them. I was thinking that Hawks (having a lot of grenades) will be able to quickly drop a few at a time, perhaps in an automatic scatter pattern. Imagine seeing that go off! Whether you get kills from it or not wouldn't matter. It's a suppression effect first and foremost. Getting kills is secondary. Suppress and damage with grenade jump. Finish them off with Lasblaster fire. Sounds like fun to me.
Rangers are an Elite class yes, they're already available on the Rouge Trader. In fact they're also a Tactical unit.
Swooping Hawks are a interesting Story. But if you can accept that they won't be outshooting anyone directly, you can still have a great time with them. The mobility to get into the enemys back and high positions there would be invaluable. Its no Solomove like the ASM (just jump into an lonely enemy and start smacking) but would need at least you to find good positions to use it. When the enemy has to look into 2 directions, + can only have cover on one side, thats huge. I guess their basicrole is to negate enemy cover, either through dropping nades there, or through flanking it. They should also be quite good as Recon I guess. Maybe their Sunrifles make enemys glow so that they are easyer to hit/see? For the grenades, I hope that you just dropp them below you. I would LOVE if you could drop them from different highs. Maybe you make a save flyby very high into the air, where it is unlikely that you will get shot down, you can focus on stationary enemy troops. On the other hand, you can fly really close over them probably from behind, so that the Nades have a short dropp time, and annihilate your enemy. High risk, high reward. The high flying could act as a fairer artillery. Why? Because you can see the enemy "bombers" approach, and you can then dodge when you pay attention. If they could do that, I hope they don't sound weak anymore Just imagine the enemy needs always to have on eye on the sky, and then dodge/reposition himself. That gives a huge advantage to the groundforces. Also, they should be quite usefull in hunting enemy "snipers". Maybe we get even an Autarch that has Wings + Melee equip.
