I think it would be better if the initial block did the stun and the kick did a simple push back with minor damage. That way they don't have to change the animation, just where the stun is applied and RBM spam is punished by not being able to evade the kick. People would have to learn the system and use it or suffer defeat. Another nice thing about the stun being attached to the hit and not the kick is that you couldn't stun lock people. All you would do is maybe hit them with another kick and do some minor damage, but chances are if the stun time stayed the same, they would be able to dodge the kick and start attacking again.
  2. The system crumbles unless you have a fast weapon (power sword): spam fast attacks and you will win any fight.

Besides the fact ranged guns are mostly bad compared to melee weapons, current situation of melee is PATHETIC. The whole RPS system is mere theory because in practice one the three pillars works like 10% of times. When it hit it often doesn't stun, and even when it stuns it seems like some classes / factions recover faster than others. If that's the case then we are screwed: if I'm playing ranged LSM and I get attacked by a spamming banshee why should I care to d-bash her if she will be ok again before I'm able to hit again?

Animations timing and precision is the top issue of the game right now. It's a core system and it's not working. Fuck Elites and cosmetics: we need it fixed asap.

  3. Attack speeds based on weapon type, animation speeds based on weapon type, distance evade covers, recovery time from stuns and evading, and duration of stuns need to be standardised for all 4 races.

I do not care that this will be against the Lore of 40k. If the Developers want the game to be balanced, they need to do this.

That is about the only way to balance the melee system. Otherwise one race will be favoured over all others for melee combat, and it will not be a balanced system.

I would disagree, saying we can't do xyz due to latency would mean that nothing gets improved, while I've read the scoreboard ping is unreliable mine is always very low according to it so how much latency are we talking about?

Going to the lowest common denominator would mean we have crappy everything so people can run it on under specced/old PC's so perhaps we need a guide on what to expect at what levels of latency

as a rough guide most twitch games I've played if you are over 100ms then you might as well play something else
  5. Not true. There's more than one way to skin a cat, and in this case, I believe minimal, simple changes to the mechanics of the bash is probably the most realistic compromise we will get. It's an improvement that lies outside the realm (relatively) of heavy latency mainly because the bash "works" (read: triggers) consistently with the heavy latency players see now. A timed parry is more at the whim of whatever is causing the sluggishness of the matches--be it ping or server load. While the game is not P2P, dark souls PVP suffered much from this.

I, too, have low ping registered on my score screen (<=20 ms usually) but I feel the latency in some of the matches. Either the meter is wrong or the server is having issues keeping up with all the objects in the game world. However, I find the latter odd because we are averaging about 800-900 peak players per day. We've hit those numbers before in January, but I've never had latency affect my melee until August or so. The only thing I can think of is the increased match size, but even those were tested, albeit briefly, well before August.

Since it's never going to get redone, the likely best band aid we can get is the parry doing the stun and the kick doing real damage. I mean, why do you care if someone dbashes you if they can't then shoot you, as they should never be able to, but they also don't actually counter you for damage. If I counter your dbash with a heavy attack guess what happens. If I counter your heavy attack with a light attack, guess what happens.

I would say the same on Eldars... Animations is out of sync and totally obscene... I always quit the queue when I see eldars.. hate playing with them.. and will boycott playing with eldars till it is more balanced.

    1) knives and knuckles are lowest tier, then chain and power swords, then maces and axes, then fists.
    2) Scorpions.

    Funny thing is:

2 years later and a launch...

If you're talking about impact tier, Knuckles have a higher impact tier, though I think their durability value was the same as Knives.

Unless you're just talking about general weapon tiers.
