Or we could make the shield an elite wargear that rank and file dont have access to,and use other wargear options for LSM GA perhaps?
Standing still and taking damage doesn't prove anything. While it looks like shield can be destroyed fast, Shieldbro can usually get into melee range before you can destroy the shield and kill him.
I enjoyed it. people really do need to stop sticking to a single faction, that's the real source of forum whine. you cant really make impartial judgement if you don't even try both sides.
That's not the real problem though I think. He's a tank, tanks are meant to tank. Sort out the inconsistencies the shield has, like the huge angle of protection (or is that fixed on FS yet), the problems when the shield is lowered, kicks to the shield damaging melee weapons, plasma not punching through the shield and the shield itself is fine. The problems in my opinion start once he is in melee range. SBs get easily into melee range, that's fine but then they shouldn't be as agile as other melee classes who take damage while approaching. The easiest and imo best solution to try would be - as the @ANGRY-MARINE suggested here (and myself on several occasions) http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/is-sheild-bro-a-holy-cow.54229/page-11#post-1110857 - to give em slightly less running speed and a leap similar to Devs/Havoc, just faster and further imo or they'll be too slow.
Why do you disagree with me and then state my opinion? I think that it's fine if he can tank a ton of damage, but I think that he shouldn't be as mobile as a Tactical while doing so.
I probably misinterpreted your post, I thought you were saying the problem is he can get into melee too easily and without being harmed xD
No what I mean is he's too agile in actual melee range not when approaching. But yes, basically he's too mobile for his tankiness.
Well it won't influence their approach with shield up, that one is fine I think. But they can't sprint up and wreck you as easily anymore yes.
