People should be allowed to choose what name they want, although there should be servers that have some form of rule on names(RP servers probably?).
I said whatever name you want... Sometimes someone beats you to your gamer tag. You need some flexibility to adapt your tag and create alt names for your tag. I think that Devs should monitor names through petitions so that absurd and obscene names are forced to a name change.
I am now very envious of Ork players now... But I like the idea of canonical names. I already have mine, Thalias Blackhammer. Also, I cringe in disgust when I see "Sephirothz" (It's going to be your problem Eldar!) or anything similar.
I don't see how it ruins the game, we still receive the same reward for killing them no matter how goofy the name is.
Forcing us into coming up with a Latin-wannabe name? Seriously , lets not go full-nerd here... I wanna be called InUrBedroomWitUrMom.
See it as a challenge - if you see someone whose name you find unfitting, let him know by shooting him in the head every time you two cross ways.
I always choose a name that fits the universe even if I don't RP, but I'm not bothered by people who do not. It's up to the devs as I see it, matters little to me tbh.
I don't see much point in limiting the names people can have for their character. And no game mechanic is going to stop people from choosing stupid names, so you might as well give everyone the freedom to have the name they want anyway. Don't enforce a law to suppress a crime if it has the side effect of screwing over the non-criminals.
Indeed, thanks for the clear up. The nature of the model of this version of 40K online will not work or be popular if it is restricted. I for one would love is an ork name could be something like 2t0m9k1ll
