Chapter Customization

Discussion in 'Space Marines' started by Arminius, Nov 26, 2013.

  1. well then i think it would be best to just go slow on new chapters to add
just 1 al 3 or 6 months would be enough i would say (since we also need to add subfaction to other factions too)
and give them some unique feeling this way instead of reskin

and i dont take anything personally at all ^^ its a discussion ;P

Adding chapters in moderation is perfect. I want to explore possible outlets for the micro-transaction and cash shop features without flooding the market, but with eventualities. The game has 2 years minimum to develop and I took this thread for speculation, despite my eagerness. ^_^

Well this is being an healthy discussion and everyone is sharing their opinion in a proper civilized manner and im thankfull for it.
I agree with you stonewolf and I would love to have my favorite chapter with a proper release but not being possible at launch I would not mind having the option of being able to sport my templar cross on my shoulder.
And it would do wonders to roleplayers also.
While I know its not possible to do that with all the chapters at least the more popular ones would get the chance to appear on the game while waiting for a proper release. Then as I said before you could upgrade to receive the full content. Just an idea. But while I daydream about being able to destroy the enemies of the emperor with my BT I hope the sons of the lion dont mind having my help on the battlefield. And im good at keeping secrets ;) also I'm not worthy enough to be put upon the golden throne! Still missing the uber pskykick powers.
And cmon you dont consider the emperor a god? The guy allows space space travel on his will alone! Imagine if he was a green lantern lol.

Could be for both really. But probably best for when you're setting up a new character, you'll have the option to purchase certain DLC's/skinsets/etc. for him. Though probably better to be for only one character at a time.

Why not add in certain buffs/bonuses for combat types? Sort of like they will have executions for sale.
Then you could mix-in various microstransacted aethetics, equipment, and enhancements. Though obviously, you wouldn't want that buff/bonus to be too powerful at all. Something just enough to give you a little bit above the default. And again, of course you could potentially find something much more applicable and battle-worthy in some dungeon. A book, earning a specific purity seal, or special weapon that provides a divine influence which buffs your character.

I think that adding "bling" to your character would be okay but changing the appearance from one Chapter to another would cheapen that Chapter.

I think he means rolling a dark angel and changing the skin to bt for example. I agree to a certain point tbh.

Because that Chapter would not receive the individuality and attention that the other Chapters have received. Just my opinion that when they add Chapters to the game they should be more than just skins, they should be individual Chapters.

Well, in my opinion choosing the Dark Angels, only to immediately choose Black Templars is plain silly. Their progenitors are the Imperial Fists. Even still, if you choose Imperial Fists and decide to roll-out in BT armour and skins, what's so bad about that? There will always be plenty of players sticking with the IF. Not to mention any new players to the 40k universe in general, would really have no reason to change their appearance. So in that respect, perhaps only specific catalogues would be available to you, based on the faction you chose.

So basically, they would only be implementing these chapters for some outstretched PR stunt for GW? I know that's not exactly what you're saying, but its what you're implying.

I agree that each chapter to their own, should receive some attention and should be fleshed-out to an extent of individuality and decent content. Not simply having cheap skins and textures being bought-out all over the place.
But at the same time, there needs to be a better alternative for customization, that isn't some poor pallet mixer, which really has no aesthetic effect. After-all, that is what WH40k is all about - being able to customize yourself and your own chapter/craftworld/warband/clan/etc. within the amazing universe at hand.

Aside from all that's been discussed, how will Deathwing, Ravenwing, Death Company, Sanguinary Guard, and so on and so forth, be handled? Is there just going to be a specific class with a completely different, default scheme?

  10. and I think introducing BT's would also be a good time to intro in scouts due to how much they rely on neophytes
