My suggestion your quoting is about not having a formal WC at all. Just allowing any guild leaders (with their own powers) to choose to work together, with no in game framework or shared powers. But bH has talked enough about it im sure WC will happen much as you believe it will. It just makes me sad.
Guild leaders can still make unofficial WC's along them selves and coordinate together. But as bH have said, you don't have to follow WC's orders (if I recall right), so unofficial WC's might come a big thing in the game.
That's true but some unofficial WC's might get some wind under their wings and get official via forums.
I saw we have @Savage as the Word Bearer council member. I'd nominate myself, but I don't have the time or online skills to organize a faction and lead it to victory. Also, my main focus is on the Calixis Sector right now.
I expect big guilds will become more important then the WC. Itll just make their leaders sad when they organise quietly within the guild to take a missile battery, and just before the attack, some random 14 year old in the WC drops a faction wide "Attack here!" marker on the place, advertising it to the enemy. Then after fighting past all the zerging and taking it, that damn kid fires the missile instead of the guys who earned it.
I too believe in your first sentiment. Any group that shows that they can get things done, have a large following, and are publically revered will have more power than any warcouncil. More than likely their esteemed leader will also make it onto the in game counterpart, thus furthering their acension to the top. Even if they don't make it on they can still get things done in a much more efficient way than a bunch of randoms attacking a fortress or outpost. Albeit there will be times when an under average Joe gets on.. And proceeds to dick around, hence forth aa ban or punishment systems should be applied for missuse of power. But until then we'll have to suffer through it. No game is perfect after all
Me too. In various games, guilds and clans have made serious war councils of their own, getting fame in the community. Also, even if the kid launched the missile, it's still a victory to your faction, and I doubt that the guy who launched the missile would get any more stuff than the others. I guess there'll be things like, claiming a fortress/outpost to your guild depending on how many of your guild mates were fighting there to take the site, so the fame doesn't go to someone who didn't do shit for it.
