I think the problem with the 'Warsmith' title is that it was given to Iron Warriors in charge of grand companies (a chapter, or collection of chapters) Seeing too many Iron Warrior Warsmiths running around would defeat the point. It would happen to be like the "Kingslayer" title in World of Warcraft. So common place, and thus not that unique anymore.
I read that title as "Chaos Titties", suffice to say im disappointed now. Anywho, i can probably make up quite a few all rounders, but as a Nurgleite ill stick to my guns and things id like to be my title: Harbinger of the Rot The Putrid Host of the Plague Everchosen of Nurgle Conveyor of the Pox Lord of the Flies
Just too add some other titles that come to mind are: 1. Daemon Prince 2. Monster 3. Possessed 4. Master Marksman 5. Daemon Summoner - summon set ## of daemons (if that is possible) 6. Servant of Slaanesh - kill ## or Eldar 7. Loyalist Bane - kill ## Space Marines 8. Tyranid Veteran - kill ## Tyranids 9. Teeth collector - kill ## of Orks 10. The Betrayer - Kill ## of Chaos 11. Night Haunter - assassinate a character without them seeing you. 12. Possessed 13. Seeker of knowledge - find set ## of achievements 14. Servant of Ahriman - find majority of achievements 15. Chosen of Tzeentch - find all achievements.
I can support the unit designations, but I am loathe to see everyone running around with a "special" title that they have "earned". It cheapens it. It reminds me of the multitude of ridiculous titles the Loyalists sprinkle themselves with, reciting them aloud during combat as if anyone outside their mewling thin-blooded Chapter has ever heard of them or cares. Just as it reminds me of other online games that hand out titles for easy victories and completing mundane tasks. You made your first PvP kill? Congratulations, here's a title for your combat prowess. You hit level cap? Here's a title. You walked around like a dumbass and "explored" everything? Here's a title. However, I could see having the title "Veteran of the Long War". You would earn it by killing ten thousand enemy players of the Space Marine faction.
I think the implementation of titles would be detrimental unless very tightly controlled. And not even just hard to earn, but also dispensed in limited quantities. Titles and achievements for titles and achievements sake do not help, especially when one of the squads you had counted on for support fire decided today was the day to get their 400 combat-knife kills for that sweet "Rip 'n Tear" achievement. I have been in faaaar too many FPS games where 30% or more of my team only uses pistols or some stupid crap because they want those achievements so bad that they're willing to run headlong into enemy fire and cripple any chance of winning the match. In this game, with resource control and whatnot, I want none of that.
What are we, Orks? Chaos doesn't DO cannon fodder. Well, aside from cultists. But, I mean, they're cultists, no one cares.
Rare? Yes. Limited quantities? No, I disagree, you'll be punishing people who join EC later than others. I do agree that these titles need to be hard to earn, instead of "Bolter Guy: Kill 100 things with a bolter". Christ I hate those achievements on Steam, they're completely and utterly worthless.
