Well since I haven't got any retalation from my last post Steelfang heard the rumble of tanks coming his way he snatched up the Knight Captain and ordered his men to fall back into the city they moved through the buildings with incredible speed leaping through windows and over roofs ramming through walls rapidly escaping the slow moving tanks coming their way as they made their way deeper into the hive city the fighting seemed to change as more and more the same sight of PDF soliders fending off the chaos cultists from the local populace became more apparent mutants and heretics charged the PDF lines armed with whatever they could get their hands on the sound of stub gun and autogun fire echoed all around them. Steelfang spotted an old adeptus arbites presincts that would serve his purpose nicely it seemed to have been abandoned when the arbites moved to the larger presincts in the upper rungs of the hive but the fear that the arbites may return prevented any fool defacing or damaging the old presincts Steelfang leapt from the adjacent hab block landing squarley on the roof the knight captain still trying to escape Steelfang clasped his hand around the man's throat chocking him till he passed out as he waited for his men to catch up he saw the strangest sight a purple haired hive ganger picking off both cultist and pdf from a high perch with what looked like a long las rifle she was dressed in some scavanged armor Steelfang couldn't see her face from here all he could see of her head was that bright purple hair
Koron and his driver managed to make it to Bloodpact lines sooner then expected. Apparently the city was in chaos as civil war erupted between surviving cult groups of Tyranids and Chaos worshipers with the Imperium caught in the middle. Koron beamed at this news but remained no less determined to return to his private legion bunker well behind chaos lines. "Milord reinforcements have arrived" As if to puncture Xarthus vox 3 Land raiders roared down the mainstream highway at reckless speeds, plowing wreckage's of tanks and abandoned hover cars alike aside. They drew up alongside one another a few feet away from Koron then the ramp slammed down with honor guard Terminators marching down the ramps, securing the area and surrounding Koron as his champion Xarthus stepped from the lead land raiders interior and bowed before his charge. "It is good to see you alive ambassador" Xarthuses grizzled vox blared from under his terminator helmet. "Enough with formalities Xarthus, there is much to do before we are done with this world" "Surely we can leave it to its fate by Lord Halbras hands after recent developments...." "Circumstances have changed Xarthus that require the Black Legions attentions, somehow the Grey Knights have deployed ahead of the invasion force and now jeopardize a large investment of the Black Legions resources" Xarthus stood taking in this new information then his gaze wondered over to the Ogryn. "What of the mutant?" Koron looked over shoulder to regard the creature. "That...I cannot explain.." "But I can" hissed the voice of powerful robed sorcerer from the corner of the Land Raider. "Carnax this isn't the time.." "Oh but it is servant of Khorne, your deeds and acts of survival may have distanced you from his graces but your skull will eventually grace his halls of streaming blood and gore" Rage flashed in Korons mind but was swiftly dashed as logic reassert itself. Carnax may be a raving lunatic of the darker gods but his counsel in war matters was second to none. "And don't you forget Koron, it will be another thousand years before you find another sorcerer the likes of me" An awkward silence feel, interrupted only by distance rumble of shells and the encroaching silence brought on by the sudden creep of the smoke deployed earlier by the artillery barrage. "Lets get the hell out of here" As quickly as the honor guard deployed they re-entered the Land Raiders ramps slamming shut followed by the daemonic roar of hellish engines as the three Land Raiders sped dangerously back to the chaos camp. (The possessed and Bloodpact forces are slaughter-able. Chaos camp defenses are heavy if you wish to attack you will need a force of formidable size to challenge it. Until the conflict in the city is resolved that may be impossible at this time.)
Porbo's mind was a whir. The heavy loss of blood mixed with the shell shock of being so close to an artillery round had Porbo on the brink of madness and death. The round had sent his body soaring through the air, as well as turned the Grey Knight he was fighting to pink mist. Sure of his demise once again Porbo closed his still functioning eye and accepted death as he careened into the street, shattering ribs and one of his arms with an audible *snap*. Porbo lied in wait, for either blood loss or enemies to finish him off. Before either of those could happen the roaring of a familiar rhino could be heard. Porbo slowly opened his good eye and through the cracked eyepiece he saw his boss and another chaos marine get out, surely this was a trick, some foul play by a malevolent god, but no with a bark and a nod the other marine hoisted his form up onto his shoulder and began to head off. Three times Porbo had faced death and escaped with his life, but Porbo was not about to complain, as they marched Porbo groaned, "Uhhh Boss?" From his view he was not sure what was going on or why they stopped. He heard a raspy voice but his ears still rang from the artillery round. "Put me down..." He said dragging out the words longer than normal as he wished to see the current situation. The chaos marine, clearly not taking well to being ordered by an abhuman, dropped him hard on the dirt. Porbo sighed happily, content with finally being back near chaos lines, even with all the injuries he sustained. Hearing talk about him Porbo rolled over and saw the large imposing sorcerer standing in front of his battered boss. Another sorcerer... Great. Thought Porbo. Having had a short rest while being carried Porbo slowly pushed himself up to kneel on one knee, before huffing and panting from the effort. Porbo hated looking tired or weak, so he forced himself to stand, despite every muscle, organ, and bone begging him not to. He slowly righted himself and walked his way slowly up to the conversation, gripping his ribs in pain as he did.
*I send a mental request to you with the psyker in my squad* -I have a plan nearly to fruition, join me for the final stage please...-
"Daemon hunters? Impossible" rumbled the static image of Lord Halbras. "It is so Lord Halbras, that's why we should focus on our efforts on construction of the Gehemahnet and reinforcing the defenses of our foot hold." Koron could tell Halbras was displeased enough as it is. The fool was sure that Koron had died behind enemy lines upon hearing the cultist ship crashing into city's central hub. Instead he had lived sowing death destruction and chaos through-out the city, stealing Halbras thunder. "You may have voice of the Black Legion whelp, but not my ear." Korons bared his razor sharp teeth in a scowl. "Our forces in orbit continue to fight fiercely against the Imperiums navy, it will be some time yet before I can bring the full might of the host to bear on Aurum 5 you are on your own for now' With that Halbras cut off the link. Koron slammed his fists into the console, then he turned to consult the tactical map that encompassed the fighting taking place on the surface. "Xarthus what is the current disposition of our numbers?" Xarthus clumped and stomped towards the tactical hologram map that rose from a rectangular table with the Black Legions bunker, still wearing his Terminator suit. "Currently we possess over 2000 black legion Astraties in reserve within the camp, we also have over 10,000 Astratie warriors to call upon through separate warbands and sects of the Black Legion, but as we pool more of these resources to our cause our masters will want results. Especially if we call upon an entire legions worth of Astraties it will attract-" "Abaddons attentions" Koron finished, his position allowed access to the same load-outs that came with being an ambitious walord of chaos but even that had its limits. "Can we make do with what we have Xarthus?" he considered this question for moment. 'For the time being, ultimately our success here will depend on what happens in orbit. If we lose control of the airspace then will be under constant bombardment and orbital insurgent strikes, should the daemon tower not be complete before then our stronghold will collapse and will be annihilated." Koron pondered this then looked over to Carnax staring intently out of the bunkers firing slit at the Ogryn dumped unceremoniously outside the dug in trench. "What are the omens of the dark gods Carnax? Do we have their blessing?" Carnax breathed in and out a long breath as though he where basking in the pure essence of chaos itself. "Their greater gaze has yet to be drawn to this world but with construction of the daemon tower...." Carnax started maliciously giggling himself. Koron took it as a good sign. "We will not call upon reinforcements yet Xarthus but instruct the slave gangs to begin diverting their attentions to the construction of the daemon tower" "It will take a long time to construct milord, we will need the blood of many slaves in their thousands to construct the rock and mortar alone." Koron smiled as his attention became drawn to the front-line as it neared a string of refuge shelters, even an over-packed star port as scrambling Imperial citizens attempted to escape the encroaching war-zone. Xarthus followed Korons gaze to the lines of refuges. "They should serve our purposes well..." "Xarthus prepare my Termintor armour we go to the front".
OOC: Just a moment! Let me finish my reply! btw 2000? YOU HAVE 2 CHAPTER'S WORTH OF MARINE'S? Please at least bring it down to 1000 marine and your war machines.
The artillery was a surprise, but I was busy with another problem. The four-armed possessed marine was incredibly strong and vented out a barrage of chain axes on me as we fought. I dodged and parried nearly all of them, but not without effort. Fortunately the demi-daemon didn’t have any technique and was easy to read. And that is what led to both of my nemesis-force flachions in its chest. After the rest of the possessed were felled, I took note of the situation. We were surrounded in smoke, effectively hindering my sense of bearing. Adeon’s body lays lifeless from that damned traitor marine’s heavy bolter fire. Callen is still braced searching for targets that are not there. Nathaneal is removing his nemesis-force halberd from a possessed’s throat. Kruger is nowhere in sight and did not answer his vox caster. The Chaos marine and the mutant are gone as well. Being the only thing around, we cautiously walked toward the rhino, guns raised. The vehicle’s engine roared and the rhino sped through the smokescreen. I pursued for a short time, but it was no use. The smoke had completely covered its escape. Damn! The smoke cleared within a minute’s time, but by then, the rhino was just a cloud of dust in the distant (surprising, considering it had only one track). I walk forward in no particular direction. What now? Then my foot steps on something made of metal. As I pause to look down, I find that it is a broken Nemesis-force sword from my squad, and while eyeing the blade, something else near it catches my sight. It was the form of Kruger, lying down in a crater most likely made by one of the explosive artillery shells. He was still breathing by some miracle, but he was in rough shape (even for an Astartes). His armor, once pure and shining like the light of the Emperor, now was scorched, scratched and cracked in many places. I kneel down on one knee and say, “Kruger, can you hear me?” His dented helmet turns to me, “Yes *breath* Sir.” “It seems that the Chaos scum got away” I tell him in a voice of self-blame. Kruger shakes his head. “No. Sir, I saw them. *breath* They disembarked from the rhino *breath* before it rode off *breath*.” Grunting with effort, Kruger raised a trembling gauntlet and pointed. “They went that way” He rasped. I look in that direction and, sure enough, there were two large forms (one carrying something) in the distant. They were far, but not too far to at least follow them with our teleporters. It’s not over yet!, I thought to myself. Infuriated with the clever deception, I order Nathaneal and Callen to immediately and stealthily pursue them. I turn back to Kruger, still lying on the ground. “You have served the Emperor valiantly, brother.” I pull out an extra vox caster (something not many would think of ever bringing) and gave it to him. “Take this and hail for an apothecary to recover Adeon’s body and yourself.” He nods and says, “Emperor protect you Sir.” “And you” I say back before I shunt off to join the others. (Later) We made sure that our presence was unknown to the Traitor marines as they boarded their Land Raiders and left. All of this for one man?... I have to report this, I thought. I broadcast a signal to the Rubicon until a Navy officer answers “Yes milord?” “Patch me through to Brother-Captain Ignatius. Tell him it’s Justicar Leonatos” “Just a moment milord….alright clearance granted.” The Brother-Captain’s voice passes through the slight static, “What is it Leonatos?” I reply, “I am in pursuit of Chaos elements. Currently they are heading south, away from the city to what looks to be a captured bunker network. Enemy force estimated 1000. And I believe I have found a Black Legion warlord among them.” There was a pause. “Alright, keep pursuing so we may track your position, and keep out of sight. I am sending 500 battle-brothers as well as 250 purifiers and 10 dreadnoughts via stormravens, and 100 terminators via Land Raiders. Other Interceptor squads are on their way. Brothers Perseus, Gabriel, Cyrus, Etzio, and Matthew are also waiting for your signal. I am also sending the vindicare assassin that came with us to provide supporting fire, and he has been given the target of the Chaos lord you mentioned. I leave their command to you. May the Emperor protect you and your men.” The vox feed is ended. I turn to Nathaneal and Callen (They listened in on the message). “Make ready men, fore we go to war in the name of the Emperor!” I turn on my tracking beacon, and we follow the Land Raiders, teleporting as we go. OOC: decided to go with that you are a lord of a chapter’s worth of men. I hope that’s okay.
Porbo felt uneasy as the gaze of the sorcerer stayed on him the entire time. His gaze sent even more malice and feelings of illness through his body than the grey knights did. Coupled with the current damage his body sustained, Porbo lost his footing and knelt back down on one knee. He groaned in pain before his stomach churned. Out from under his hood came a sickening mixture of blood and stomach contents. He felt woozy and the gaze continuing to pierce him did not help. Despite the damage Porbo refused to ask for medical attention figuring if that sorcerer wanted to keep staring at him, he would have to come fix him. Before anyone could come close another spill came from under the hood, this time almost entirely blood. "Just... Fatigue ..." He groaned as he realized someone was trying to pull him into a vehicle. Suddenly his eyes widened in terror, even the damaged one. Porbo feared nothing, but confinement inside a vehicle made him very uneasy and uncomfortable. He tried to fight but his lack of energy made that short lived before he was dragged inside the transport and layed on the floor at the feet of the attending Astartes. He had no objections to staying slumped.
"Has the mutant been handled Carnax?" Koron inquired the sorcerer. "Yesss it rides to the construction site of the daemon tower as we speak, in attendance of our morticians we wouldn't want it to die before it fulfilled its purpose." "Yes, of course" Koron wandered away from the sorcerer finding something else to divert his attention as waited for his host to prepare itself. The 2000 Astraties had been split into two groups one to man the defenses the other to capture the Imperial civilians. He could still remember the frantic message transmitted from their vox cast. "Milord fleet has detected numerous contacts of Astraties strike forces launching from orbital assets" Koron received this message as each piece of his reverent terminator was slotted in place. "Which legion?" Koron snarled. "Unconfirmed, contacts armor plating suggest a white emblazon theme" Damn daemon hunters! Don't they know when they are beaten? "Xarthus, take half of the host and reinforce the bunker defensive line. Deploy the mechanized units of defilers and dreadnoughts. Keep the heldrakes and forgefiends in reserve of the 4th tier defence line." "It will be done milord, will the entire Termintor reserve go with you to the offencive line?" "No only the honor guard Termintors the rest I leave at your disposal. Do not let them breach the 4th tier or your life will be forfeit" "Yes milord" Koron then switched frequency to the captain of Black Legion fleet vessel. "Captain, monitor the daemon towers construction site until its completion should it fall into enemy hands commence orbital bombardment, be ware of Grey Knight cruiser elements" "Affirmative" Responded the captain. Striding to head Land raider Koron boarded and ran through a vox check with the various elements. "All units vox check" "38th Preditor column receiving" "42nd Bloodpact armor receiving" "63rd rhino transport receiving" "All vox check, advance" Korons lead Land Raider sped out of the compound followed by the armored advance of the 17th Legion. The daemon tower will have its sacrifices. (Korons armored column will pass through Steelfangs flank)
