uuh looks like jagged alliances with spacemarines ^^ really would love it but should be an improved remake with some new ideas
If you dig games like Jagged Alliance or Brigade E5 you would fall in love with CG. I'm working on more new ideas and I'm treating this SERIOUSLY guys. However even in its pure form the game kicks ass like hell, it's all about a micro management with lots of Wh40k atmosphere to it.
I have some ideas about my ideal version of Chaos Gate remake, some things are new some should remain as they were. New things : 1. Smart pause system. I think it's more convenient to play than a bit old fashioned turn based, not that I don't like it but smart pause gives the player more freedom. You explore the world of game without unneccessary breaks just like in rts games and when the enemy appears you switch to turn based. Good examples of smart pause implementation are for example: Brigade E5 and 7,62 Caliber. 2. Instead of standard missions and maps connected to them we could have a sand box world with non linear way of playing it. You basically discover the story\plot by exploring the world deeper and deeper at the same time having the freedom to choose your own path and what missions\quests you want to do first or later - again, the more freedom in game the better. 3. Quests for single characters not only groups like in the original version. That would make the game play richer and probably more demanding at the same time giving you the option to identify yourself closer to one of your favourite characters and developing him more than others. 4. Better graphics ofc and the possibility of changing the camera angle not only magnification, that is always an advantage just like in DoW series. More animated cut scenes to amplify the Wh40k atmosphere. 5. Possibility of playing the campaign as the opposite faction, in this case Chaos. I don't think it could be possible to include more factions to play in the campaign mode as this would be difficult from the plot point of view. However it would be nice to have other factions as npcs. This idea is ofc connected to having several alternative endings, not just one. This in turn seems to be standard now in every good adventure\rpg game. 6. Reliable multi player mode for both main factions, possibly different modes of mp too. Now the old things that are good and need to stay as they are to ensure the atmosphere and quality of the original version: 1. The idea with 100 marines on board the cruiser to choose from as your squads. You only should have this number thus it makes you play wisely and economically since when you lose a member of your company he will not be replaced (the squad members can ofc be replaced by remaining members of the company). 2. The rpg characters development\progression system. This was the strongest part of the original CG, it worked very well and should be left intact. In the beginning you had mostly rookies in your company, by the end of game you had several squads of seasoned veterans. 3. Micromanagement - talking bout counting the number of bullets in the mag of your bolter and remebering to leave some action points to reload it before doing anything else. Precise planning of movement and actions of your squad memebers in order to maximise your over all performance against the enemy. 4. Great soundtrack, ambient sounds and voice acting - I guess i'd leave that as it was, some more stuff could be added however if neccessary. 5. General idea of the plot: chase after the Chaos forces into the eye of terror in pursuit of the lost relic. While playing as chaos we'd have to do everything to prevent loyalist form getting it ofc. Simple and effective, more sophisticated plot is really not neccessary, the secondary quests however could offer some more variety in types of missions available. Thoughts anybody?
Removing turns mess a bit with multiplayer I was thinking about Fallout Tactics version-you can take turns or go with real time action point proppeled gameplay.
Yes, you are right in MP you could have a choice to play traditional turns or traditional rts. I don't know if such a solution is possible from the technical point of view but it would be great.
You're going to have it soon probably in a remade version with dark angels instead of blood angels, well, they're still angels though, aren't they ? http://www.shacknews.com/article/80978/space-hulk-deathwing-is-an-fps
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it too, the latest Space Hulk remake dissapointed me. I know it was supposed to reflect the board game feel and probably it did but it was simply...boring.
the FPS one made you feel like you was alone or in a small squad and made you on edge and jumpscares even though the original had dated graphics back then it was certainly one of the best W40k games i've played
