I totally agree on some of the legion specific costomization, but have the not generic but normal Chaosy stuff to start out. As you advance in rank maybe allow more things to be attached and unique things for certain quests or ranks as well indecating you are more Choatic than the new guy.
Yes, this would make sense, and is illustrated well by Dawn of War 2. You can tell that the Chaos Space Marine on the left (Max level in DOW2) has seen a lot of combat and has been rewarded thusly, whereas the CSM on the right hasn't been around as long.
I wasn't really thinking in terms of Legion specific customization but that is something I would like to see, especially for the Legions who actually get into this game.

World Eater shoulder pads and the option to rock the white and blue color scheme, as if I have been alive in the Warp since the first betrayal.
I do like the grills/maws on some of the newer models shoulderpads like the Noise Marines and Raptors, though I do prefer the previous Raptors overall. Tell you what I'd like, a little happy Nurgling dangling from my chain/grenade belt, just happy to be along for the ride to spread the most delightful rot alongside me.
As a Devout follower of Nurgle I would love nurglings all over me along with rotting flesh and mutated limbs
Chain mail loin cloths Acess to all the armor patterns Option to remove the helmet Unit specific pieces and variations of it eg a Khrone Berzerker T visor helmet etc
I want a skeletal or near skeletal head, tattered robes or rags to adorn my Power Armour and of course, incense and nurglings hanging and grasping about!
