if you desperately need 100lp free for something else. Like chain + plasma gun Vs power + bolter No other real reason to use less Ap weapons for me
Watch the latest twitch If you don't want to, they're normalizing the penetration for chain weapons and knives so their penetration will be equal to the base toughness of whoever you're fighting. For example against Eldar they'll be penetration 80, but against Space Marines they'll be penetration 100. That means while Power weapons are still superior to chain weapons and knives, you have much more reason to take chain weapons because of the LP they save without sacrificing too much effectiveness. Basically they're buffing default melee weapons.
Watch the last twitch show. If they carry out what the communicated, Chain-weapons will get a buff against no-extra toughness enemys
Cheaper LP cost is about all, I was finding a chain axe was working better on orks (due to the low toughness I was told) compared to a power axe awhile ago as I could have more LP spent elsewhere (mods,HP, armor etc) but I've not been able to find any ork fights lately to see if that's the same
Interesting, I wonder why I never thought about that. But putting all the numbers in I calculated a damage mitigation of 9% of all chain weapons against toughness targets. Meaning against all players except Eldar the chainsword had a nerf of at least 9% less damage. So the actual damage value was misleading. It's good that they will address that, but if it will solve the problem of power vs chain weapons...who knows
Well now maby I can find more reason to use my necro chainsword if they up pen. I need to see more chains!
