Is it just me, or does the Chain Choppa in it's current form just seem awkward? Back when I actually played tabletop with my Blood Axe army, the Chain Choppa was always my favorite weapon to give any of my slugga boys just for the utterly 'brutal' appearance of it, and while the weapon in it's current state resembles it to a degree I am at a loss as to why they felt it would look good to stick the rippy bits at the end of a stick! Please, bring back the classic!
Design is a little weird yeah. I'm more concerned with the fact that it seems to be complete garbage atm. Can't win any melees with that thing I swear.
Wait until we get our powerklaw. LOL. Seriously though yeah, anything below an axe is garbage. the simple choppa can be good as long as you make good use of the spare points. I never used any of the first tier weapon for any character. Just not worth it. The main reason is fast attacks are easier to land than power attacks, and if you fast attack with a first tier weapon, you die, but landing good power attacks before dying is too long. Also d-bash is incredibly problematic for me, and power attacks are cancelled by fast attacks, which makes fast attack rule, which make the weapon winning the clangs always the best option (for me at least), hence, I always go with the highest tier available. Always. Edit: correcting that, my MoN ground assault is an exception, I use the chainaxe with plasma pistol. Because it just feels right to play my marine like that. Still gives amazing results. because If I'm vs a powerfist or powered axe, I'll just dodge and land a few very accurate and powerful pistol shots to even the scale and avoid excessive clanging.
