Factions champions yes (top 10 score recive a title or whatever). Special treatment to youtubers/streamers? nope, they made content about the game and I watch it, they get youtube/twitch money and I have more people to play with or to shoot in the face... or you mean something like PS2 tried to do to promote the game? meh not sure if that will bring people to the game, the event was ok because PS2 is free but if some youtuber plays SM or Eldar and his viewer base can't play with him for free most of them will lose interest IMO.
There a lot of cool youtubers that I would love to watch as they play and support this game. And I know that many of them will join in on their own initiative. ...but if pewdiepie even attempts to try and monetize his videos off this game, so help me emperor, there will be blood.
As already stated in the other thread, faction leaders should be chosen because they are glood players and strategists, not because they have a legion of drooling fanboys given their status as "YouTube Celebrities".
Keep it simple : E-celebs do their own thing : reviews, let's plays , live steaming , their own guilds of buddies , interviews etc , no ingame bonuses War council : A high level of experience and playtime is required. Then only the those who passed those requirement can vote and choose a war council among themselves.(this is an idea , I just don't remember what the devs had decided on this) There really is no need for special treatment other than than a few interviews with the devs. That's big enough.
My vote for council member goes to those who prove themselves against the enemies of man, their decision making under pressure and their faith in the Emperor, not the number of viewers on youtube.
I'm not exactly sure if anyone on this page even read the first post lol. Being a Champion does not equal a member of the War Council.
The council are meant to be the best of the best. What do you expect of these champions to be ? Isn't it enough when these people make videos of themselves playing a race ? Ranking up is supposed to work only on battle experience and here you are proposing a new role entirely based on online popularity.
The council are not "the best of the best" in the same sense of a champion. Leadership on this scale has nothing to do with martial prowess or oratory skill - it has everything to do with management and being a good tactician. A player who excels not at a FPS, or a TPS, but an RTS would be best suited here. Here's what I'm suggesting: As a marketing device, it would make sense that the Champions of each race, a sort of battlefield hero*, would initially be someone quite well known to promote the faction before the game's launch, similar, but not the same as what PS2 did with its faction leaders. After the first campaign, the top players from each faction would replace these champions, and would remain there based on how many requisition points they earned for their faction. *A Battlefield Hero - Chaplains, Librarians, The Emperor's Champion, Techmarine, Vanguard and Sternguard Veterans, Chaos Sorcerers, Possessed, Chosen, Farseers, Spiritseers, Harlequin Death Jesters, Ork Weirdboyz, Flash Gitz, and Ork Mekboyz - All are a sort of a specialization to pre-existing classes that can only be unlocked due to battlefield prowess. They aren't necessarily better or worse than any other class, but keep players wanting to play them because of some of their awesome abilities. Who better to show them off at launch, than celebrities saying "hey if you're good at bringing home victory for your team, look what awaits you?"
