Casting The Runes - Interest For Jorimel's Eldar Rp?

Discussion in 'Role Playing' started by Jorimel, Jan 22, 2015.

  1. I'm gonna try and get a post out tonight or tomorrow morning as well. Stick my fire pike into other people's....that sounds dirty. I won't finish that statement.

  2. Hmmm... @Jorimel I have some questions about Talis. Mostly minutiae of his gear and skills and such, should I ask here or in PM?

My point is that your character actions can stand by themselves, let people interpret them as they may unless someone has completely misunderstood them :) People get to decide what they do with their own characters, it sounds a bit too much like botting them to serve your evil plans otherwise :p

Gotta utilize the sudden activity spike! SEIZE IT! Plus I don't have any evil plans and everyone still can do whatever they want, just perhaps giving a little nudge or push or so.... Nothing wrong with that... :p
  6. Okay. Well, I have an idea for where most of his stuff will be, it's the climbing gear I am thinking of mostly. I was hoping he could have a knapsack that can carry some basic food and medical supplies, as well as perhaps work as a harness for a connected grappling hook.

The hook is less important. What I would really like is for his gloves (fingers) and boots (toes) to basically be able to stab into rock and such for him to literally scale mountains. The boots have an RL counterpart, I believe, and the gloves would act like... ice-climbing picks

    EXAMPLE VID

I would like the spikes to retract so he doesn't stab People >.>

Also, I can see Talis being able to do various, minor medical things. Such a set bones and dress wounds. Also a bit of food preparation (including butchery) because Biology and necessity (Like falling off trees and/or getting lost)

Obviously not to any real trained extent. I suppose my question here is- what are the limits of being good at 'other' skills? (Those not on the CS)

    EXCITED PUPPY MODE DETECTED

I appreciate the increased action, I really do. I thought I was going to have to mothball the game, so post on, you crazy diamonds.

To answer the questions generally first: for Exodites, you have to think low-tech. Although they do have technology, they choose to live a life that does not utilise it out of a desire to avoid becoming corrupt and decadent like the Eldar of old who, basically, didn't have to work for a living.

You can certainly have a knapsack, that's not a problem, but a grappling hook device is a bit too Batman for an Exodite because, again, it's high tech. The level you'd be looking at would be more rope + grappling hook + swinging it under your own power (which you can have if you like). The same for the gloves and boots - while you can have climbing gear with spikes and claws attached, they won't be retractable. Nor will they be very good in combat, though it is fair to say that they will do more damage than the bare shoe alone. You didn't ask about that I know but someone else may :)

With regard to skills, you have spent the maximum allotment you can have at this stage. The medical things above would be a whole new skill of their own (setting bones is not minor alas). But, you can always change skills around before you start, if you like :) With regard to food preparation and butchery, as an Exodite you would be able to do that as part of your cultural background so no worries there.

Basically for being able to do other things, there is a baseline of things that every Eldar knows, depending on where they come from. You can always ask if in doubt :) You can also gain more skills as time goes on and characters gain XP.

  10. Almost went to talk to Yareli in my post. Then realized that my character is more wise than I am and I had no idea what to say. So I internally monologued again.
