Can't Find The "which 5th Chaos Legion Do You Want" Topic.

  1. Hmmm, you think so? It doesn't seem like that huge of a hurdle to overcome if they really wanted to include them, but then again they are such an obscure chapter that I didn't really anticipate they would be selected anyway.

It is just one of their unique aspects that ignoring wouldnt be very favorable to their fans. It is like having Space Wolves but just making them reskinned Ultramarines
  3. If the next chapter has to be Chaos Undivided too, then Alpha Legion is the best and only option.

^ Not really, I'm betting they go with Red Corsairs.

I agree that this seems logical as the RCs can have anything in their army much like the Black Legion which makes them very versatile but also doesnt require any odd special modifications to make them "fit" in the game
  6. Seems like they're only going with First Founding chapters so far. I don't doubt descending chapters will exist, just probably not as sub-factions.

But since GW treats all "Legions" as petty warbands these days i dont really think it even matters for the Chaos side so i can RCs being the choice

I also think Alpha Legion and Red Corsairs will be the two in the "vote-off" for fifth Legion (I like both, but would vote AL just because I think they should be in before non-first founding Legions/warbands).

I don't think there are any other chaos marine formations of their size that would both allow a free choice from all of the Chaos classes and who aren't devoted to a single Ruinous Power (seeing as the developers picked undivided legions for a reason, so that choosing a chaos god to follow can be a progression choice).

The 5th legion certainly won't be any of the 4 "cult legions" - you wouldn't have any choice in your god, or even choice of class, if your starting character was either a Tzeentchian sorcerer of the Thousand Sons, or one of the mindless Rubric Marines they control, a Death Guard Plague Marine of Nurgle, a Khorne berzerker who was once part of the shattered legion known as the World Eaters or a Slaaneshi Noise Marine who was once part of the shattered legion known as the Emperor's Children.

Personally I think we'll get those "cult marines" of those 4 Legions as Elite Classes instead (and maybe even get some characters like Kharn, Ahriman, Lucius and Typhon as Hero Classes), though I wouldn't be shocked if, once we have god choices, you could eventually upgrade either your standard CSM class into a Nurgle Plague Marine, or your Raptor into a Khorne Berzerker, or your Havoc into a Slaaneshi Noise Marine, or your sorcerer into a Tzeentchian Sorcerer - though of whatever Legion you were playing as, not one of the "cult legions".

Only thing with the Corsairs is that they I'm not 100% sure they'd leave the Maelstrom without a very, very good reason. They aren't answerable to Abaddon and his crusades either. The fluff is dynamic though and I could see Huron leaving New Badab if their was good enough incentive. Certainly no more odd than the Alpha Legion undertaking a footslogging ground war. GmcN and Ivan could make it work either way.

I say it's a toss up between the Alphas, RC or Crimson Slaughter ... GW still have models to sell and dammit if the Slaughter aren't cool as hell.

Yes to most of this, but the big named characters thankfully won't be playable. At least as far as my knowledge extends to the debate that was raging over this. Been gone for awhile, not completely up to date. With any luck my Death Guard won't just be an Elite like Termi armor. I could see it being so but I'm a Nurgling through and through and I'd like to have a more permanent dedication to him with them.
