As a tiny tidbit of random info, I managed to get a refund for the Mael Dannan sword on account of it being restricted to a limited-use elite class and support also mentioned this:
Means they should be able to equip it on standard DA, since only the Diresword is restricted. (Hopefully means more Powersword variants for Banshee's too.)
I have held on to that diresword this entire time. Of the small RTC I started with I bought a weapon that I knew was not going to be available at launch. I bought it as a promise that this will happen. It says diresword, it is for the Dire Avenger. One small accountable blip on my character profile, the one thing I want for Eldar. Something to look at and say, "You said this. Take your time, whenever you have a chance. But this. This is what I want." And they have reneged on that? Edit: No, I am not asking the devs to justify themselves. As always it is their game, and it is their prerogative to make decisions that they think will benefit the game. Also keeping Mael Dannan, despite being primarily relegated to HB if this does happen (which I don't play ever because there are always enough). The game is bigger than one item.
Don't know, have to ask some of the Dev team themselves if you want a definitive answer as to what that means. I only offer my interpretation and reasoning as explanation. Unless Powerswords are Dire Avenger Exarch restricted too, then it means it will be released as a powersword for the standard/revered DA, but with the same/similar stats to the actual Diresword. Which would defeat the entire purpose of restricting it, if any thought was spent on it at all, which doesn't seem likely, given this new development. Perhaps they mean it shall be released as a standard Powersword, and remove it's description of being a Diresword. I cannot say for certain myself, I can only speculate and make educated guesses based off of what I know.
My guess would be that they're not going to make it any different from powerswords. At least there might be less screaming about it this way..
There are some Exarch weapons that I think should NOT be restricted, and usable by basic classes, for variety and balance. Dire Avenger: Power sword and possibly shimmershield if they follow the same sword 'n board rule that all the others do. Striking Scorpion: Scorpion's claw (We need our power fist equivalent.) Fire Dragon: The firepike. Warlock: Singing Spear. These are the ones I know of that I think should be used by the Basic classes too. The Banshee weapons both require two hands to use (At least the mirrors swords do, unsure about the Executioner) and I'm unsure of their full capabilities, only that the mirrorswords can deflect bullets and strike faster than the powers swords (which would be a direct upgrade) and that the Executioner is a strong power-glaive, also a direct upgrade with no reason not to take. I, however, want Banshees to have the option of replacing their pistol with a triskele.
