If we are winning the overall map there could be visual battles in the background off map showing that happen with titan units
I've heard that the aftermath of the game is supposed to be cannon. IE- If the Ork players control the map most of the time (or achieve whatever amounts to a victory or most victories) then the Orks have taken over the planet in lore too. When da Orks win, we should let all da 'umies know dat dey were sayin da planet fings' name wrong ta whole time!
But the humans will just claim they never really wanted the planet anyway so they just let the Orks have it. As will the Eldar, but in their case it will be true as they will have achieved whatever mysterious shadowy goal brought them there in the first place.
If they've devoted 5 chapters to the planet and they didn't really want it, that makes them look kind of silly though doesn't it?
Yeah, but Orks don't really do recording for posterity, so as far as the Imperium of Man will be concerned, it was a crushing victory for the Adeptus Astartes followed by a successful tactical retreat leaving the scraps to the greenskin xenos scum.
